Run Silent Run Deep |
The wife and I will be heading to Europe next year for our 15th anniversary bucket trip of life extraveganza. Coming home through Paris and have extended a day to see Normandy and pay our respects to the ones who made our trip and freedoms possible. Looking for the best tour from Paris to Normandy that allows the best all-around exposure/experience. I know many here have gone...so I thought I'd ask the great SigForum for ideas. Thanks in advance... _____________________________ Pledge allegiance or pack your bag! http://normandy44-tours.com Used them in Nov, we got ourselves from Paris to Bayeux via the train. Olivier was awesome and had tons of information.

In 2015 I took an Avalon Waterways river cruise of the Seine River from Paris to Caudebec and back. At Caudebec there was an optional day trip to the Normandy beaches. It was enough for me, but you may be looking for something more. The river stops were quite interesting to me, too, but it may not be your thing. Here is a link to that cruise: http://www.avalonwaterways.com...y/wpp/?nextyear=true. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Normandy is on my bucket list. "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it....While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it" - Judge Learned Hand, May 1944

Oh man, could you do two days? You're going to be wore out when you get back to Paris if you're only giving yourself one day. I would suggest taking the train from Paris to Bayeux early on your first day. I think you can get a train that will get you to Bayeux before 8:30 which is the normal meeting times for most of the tour groups. I'm not sure about this though as my three trips to Normandy we rented a car. Get there on the train, take a day tour. Stay the night in Bayeux, take another day or half day tour on the second day then take the train back to Paris that night. I've been on three tours with overlordtour.com and enjoyed all of them. Strangely enough, Olivier from normandy44-tours was my tour guide at overlordtour.com on my first tour with them back in 2011. He's a good guide. The guides that I had on my trip back in June were good too. If I think of anything else I'll report back. Overlord Tours apparently has a two day tour that leaves from Paris, but it's seems expensive. http://www.overlordtour.com/ov...tour-from-paris.html

Normandy is an easy drive from Paris. It's good to have a car. It's easy to get around and the people are very friendly to Americans. I've been twice, for a week each time. After two weeks, there is still a lot I haven't seen and I will go back. Both visits coincided with the anniversary of the invasion on June 6. Lots of re-enactors, vehicles, etc. Very cool.

My Normandy tour was on 5 June, the day before historic D-Day, and there was a lot going on (71st anniversary). My photos of that day trip are on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/...s/72157656126136528/. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Hey, Paddy314! What years were you there? I was there for the 67th, 70th, and 73rd anniversaries.
