I’m having a hard time deciphering the google results I’m finding.

Some say you cannot own one in WI unless it is in a WI state trust. Others are saying if it’s already covered by a tax stamp it’s legal.

Can I get some clarification from those that have the most invested in this?

Can I bring my SBRs to Wisconsin?

Logrusmaster and I attended a SigForum shoot there several years ago and there were plenty of SBR's to shoot. That's all I've got for you but will check with the guy who hosted.

I hope that I can help out. This is what I can find and it is loosely worded.

2024 Wisconsin Statutes & Annotations
Chapter 941 - Crimes against public health and safety.
941.28 - Possession of short-barreled shotgun or short-barreled rifle.

Universal Citation:
WI Stat § 941.28 (2024)

There is a section:
(4) This section does not apply to the sale, purchase, possession, use or transportation of a short-barreled shotgun or short-barreled rifle to or by any armed forces or national guard personnel in line of duty, any peace officer of the United States or of any political subdivision of the United States or any person who has complied with the licensing and registration requirements under 26 USC 5801 to 5872. This section does not apply to the manufacture of short-barreled shotguns or short-barreled rifles for any person or group authorized to possess these weapons. The restriction on transportation contained in this section does not apply to common carriers. This section shall not apply to any firearm that may be lawfully possessed under federal law, or any firearm that could have been lawfully registered at the time of the enactment of the national firearms act of 1968.

History: 1979 c. 115; 2001 a. 109.

And then: 26 USC 5801 to 5872

Is about having you SBR registered with the TAX.

I’m not a legal expert, but appears that if you are in line with the federal side, you should be good in Wisconsin? Others that may know more on the legal system and how those paragraphs read.

Where are you planing to visit?

Thanks Mike. Just heard back from Jeff and he said pretty much the same.

Thank you gentlemen, Brad, for all your help.

I’ll be living in or near Kenosha for 3.5 years while I work at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes.

Way off topic here but if you’re going to be in the Kenosha area, you will have to check out Tenutas Deli.

I know it sounds crazy but I'd LOVE to be able to find a place to park my camper.

Winters will be rough but it I can insulate it I'd rather just stay in the camper than anything else.
