Every map that came out CDT 8PM puts that stupid hurricane right over my little town of Victoria, TX. No offense 12121 but if it moved a bit north it'll put us on the clean side and clean up Houston just a bit.
I'm on call at the hospital until Monday morning, so I might be living in the parking garage for a while, wish us luck!

When you hear your local weather guys forecasting and they say that their "computer models do not agree", that should tell you all you need to know about that stuff.
I don't pay attention to any of it.

You guys need to give yourselves a break and just ignore that shit. Prepare as best you can, prepare for the worst, and listen to your local emergency management people.

Yes, but it's just leaving the Yucatan Peninsula and heading back into the GoM where it's expected to pick up to a Cat 1 hurricane.

Please please please let me get my 50A generator circuit installed before another comes my way
House was wired commercial 3phase with 4 legs in the mid 60’s. Electricians don’t like looking at it and want to reconstruct it, I know they have to bring to code, all I want is a ranch box installed with an interlock swapping out the exterior main cutoff

I may get to try out my whole house natural gas generator. At least now that my daughter is married and living in misery (Missouri), I can go stay with her for the big storms.
The best part is that I may get a couple of free days off work due to this storm………
Beryl Set to Strengthen on Way to Texas Due to Hot Ocean Temperatures
With its unprecedented tear through the ultrawarm waters of the southeast Caribbean, Beryl turned meteorologists' worst fears of a souped-up hurricane season into grim reality. Now it is Texas turn.
Beryl hit Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula as a Category 2 hurricane on Friday, then weakened to a tropical storm. It is expected to reach southern Texas by Sunday night or Monday morning, regaining hurricane status as it crosses over the toasty Gulf of Mexico.
National Hurricane Center senior specialist Jack Beven said Beryl is likely to make landfall somewhere between Brownsville and a bit north of Corpus Christi Monday. The hurricane center forecasts it will hit as a strong Category 1 storm, but wrote "this could be conservative if Beryl stays over water longer" than expected.
The waters in the Gulf of Mexico are warm enough for the early-season storm to rapidly intensify, as it has several times before.
"We should not be surprised if this is rapidly intensifying before landfall and it could become a major hurricane," said Weather Underground co-founder Jeff Masters, a former government hurricane meteorologist who flew into storms. "Category 2 may be more likely but we should not dismiss a Category 3 possibility."
Beven said the official forecast has Beryl gaining 17 to 23 mph in wind speed in 24 hours, but noted the storm intensified more rapidly than forecasters expected earlier in the Caribbean.
"People in southern Texas now need to really keep an eye on the progress of Beryl," Beven said.
Masters and University of Miami hurricane researcher Brian McNoldy said hurricane center forecasters have been very accurate in predicting Beryl's track so far.

Well, just changed the oil in my nat gas, whole house generator with Royal Purple, changed the oil filter and gave it a test run. I am ready to go, hope you other guys in this area are.
If you live on the Gulf Coast in Texas, it is a matter of when you will get hit with a hurricane, not if. Everyone should already be prepared (unless they just moved here in the last month…..)

The first time I moved to Houston I had to evacuate 5 days after I arrived (my truck and a few things not the moving truck) due to Hurricane Rita and was one of the people stuck on I45 moving 0.8 mph. I vowed to never let that happen again so I'm always prepared for hurricane season.
My hurricane kit should be GTG:
whole house generator had the oil changed and all maintenance at the end of May.
picked up my hurricane drinking water at the beginning of June.
plenty of food in the pantry, freezer, and garden.
I have everything I've seen on hurricane checklists except full tank of fuel. I'll fill up the truck today.

This is exactly why I follow Space City Weather instead of listening to the sensational asshat "meteorologists." SCW matter of fact discusses the likely effects on Houston metropolitan area, comments on model confidence, actually admit when their forecast was wrong, and discourages sensationalist bullshit (e.g. when other sites hype up models 15 days before landfall).
