Does anybody understand what's changing w/ the new PGE electricity billing structure? It sounds like they are consolidating compulsory (non-usage related) charges (like electricity delivery) charges and billing that monthly; they make it sound like some of that is currently paid month while others are rolled into the true-up for solar customers.

This effectively doubles the monthly compulsory payment (and for solar customers, usage billing is at the annual true-up based on net metering).

I'm okay if the bottom line is about the same from an annual total bill perspective. But it's not clear that this is the case.

Anybody know?

I’d suggest going to PG&E website for an explanation. They’re usually good in summarizing the changes to rates and billing.

I’m in the electric utility industry but not close with billing. There may be a YouTube video explaining changes as well.

If you look at your latest bill, what are you paying on average for a kWh? The total cost divided by kWh purchased during billing cycle? I believe PG&e is somewhere in the $0.40-.50/kwh range.
