HI! So My kid (godson actually) is in the National Guard. He is off to AIT next month. When he comes back I promised to take him to Vegas and do the machine gun rental thing. There are lots of places to do it I guess, so does anyone have any recommendations?

My 15 y/o wanted the same. Last March we found ourselves at the Trump Hotel in Vegas. Battlefield Vegas was a .9 mile walk out the back street.
You go, pay, then wait your turn, 20-25 minutes for us. I think it was $143 for 3 guns, 30 rounds each. I shot once, the son twice. It’s over quick, then a few pictures.
It was more his thing than mine, but easy-peasy. Yes, it’s mostly foreign tourists, but the ‘facilitators’ have the drill down.

This was a long time ago (circa 1999-2000) and a lot has changed since then, but when I was still in California I went to The Gun Store on Tropicana Ave. after finding one of their flyers. It was only submachine guns (pistol caliber), but I still enjoyed the outing.

I went one one of my numerous Vegas trips, but the place I went to either closed or moved. The month after 9/11 I had a trip scheduled to Vegas and the place was really hurting since the travel ban and people being afraid to fly, so I know my buddy and I got a really cheap deal on our session. The place I went to was a really nice range south and west of the strip along Blue Diamond Rd.,but it has been gone for a long time now.
We each shot an M16, an UZI and an HK MP-5. Session included some brief instruction and the instructor was in the bay with you as you shot in case if any jams or malfunctions. There was a charge for the 3 gun package, which included one full mag for each weapon, and you could add on additional mags if you wanted. Each additional mag was around a buck per round, but that was years ago. The only gun I wanted to shoot more of was the MP5. Since that day, it's been my favorite gun and would be a purchase after a lottery win. :-) The UZI was virtually uncontrollable past 25 feet for me, a real spray and pray. The M16 walked up vertically without using the 3 round burst. But it was a fun time. I think we each spent about $150, but I can't really remember.

If you stop by the Strip Gun Club you can take a photo with one of my antique vault doors.
I think this guy got the full package at Battlefield Vegas. He must have done quite well at the tables:

I took my NV CCW class at The Gun Store on Tropicana. We were in a different bldg, but the main store had probably a two hour wait to get on the range. The place is one giant cab stand with a long line of cabs and foreign tourists. We did our range quals after closing time, so we had the place to ourselves. But I would never wait in that line for anything.
