TommydoggI received a renewal notice in the mail yesterday...
I don't know who these folks are trying to fool! I received an "IMPORTANT RENEWAL NOTICE" in the mail yesterday. Upon opening I discovered it was from Habitat For Humanity. I guess my membership is about to expire and for the suggested renewal gift of $20.00, $35.00, $50.00 or a write in amount, I can remain a member. For $20.00 I will receive a plush dog. Upon closer inspection of the notice, I have been a member since 2004. The thing is, is I have never been a member! I'm of the position that I will not keep these organization fat cat executives in rice and pillows. I guess their marketing scheme is that folks will feel obligated because their "membership" is about to expire!

Yes it's lame that it costs $2. I'd say it reduced our junk mail by over 90%.

mikeyspizzaWell, at least they are helping keep the postal workers employed.

}BuLLNRA does this too. I signed up for 10 years a while back, and still get renewals in the mail wanting me to believe that my membership is about to or has expired.

Barely...I hate that junk mail is the only reason these guys have a job. In the red for the 11th year in a row. Actual businesses disappear after 1 or 2 with losses like they show.
I am thinking about setting a box aside, putting all my junk mail into it and at the end of each month, taking it back to the post office, so they can see what their hard work has produced. Out of hundreds of pieces of mail every month, 10 or less are things that actually needed to be sent to me. Maybe we can start a movement that gets people to give this unwanted garbage back to those that delivered it to us.
