This is just so damn silly.

Then again, hey, it's not as if we've had highly efficient internal combustion engines for years, right?

$25,000+ up to $35,000+ cost of the battery alone.. What about labor charges as well as down time waiting parts(even if available) and labor charges... dont sound cost effective to me. ....... In cases such as in the orginal story will the charging station be responsible for damages to said vehicle. Sure they will try and place all the blame on the vehicle owner. ........................... drill sgt.

Okay, hear me out….. Say we heat some water until it vaporizes. Then we let it force a piston in two opposing directions using valve technology and tie a shaft to the reciprocating piston assembly. Stay with me….. to the shaft we secure a wheel assembly that rotates. That might work!

Now what with to heat the water……hmmmm

That little bit of hippie left in me only allows me to use Organic Fuels, from beneath rich, natural soil.

Gasoline is a complex mixture of many organic compounds. It is produced through refining operations from crude oil, which is a natural blend of many different hydrocarbons found in underground reservoirs in certain parts of the world.

All electric vehicles, including Tesla’s have the WORST reliability of any vehicle according to Consumers Report. Risk does not equal reward in this case.

I almost would a had my Toyota burnt to a crisp from a camera battery. I had taken a few pictures and set the camera back on the seat. A little later, i moved the camera over and it was too hot to touch. I stopped and took it out of the car. Was able to salvage the SD card. Then the camera sort of exploded. There was a creek near. I threw the camera into the creek.

Para is right, ya know. Scotty Kilmer just did a video about the high number of EVs that are burning after getting flooded in the last hurricane. People’s homes would be damaged, then the EV burns it to the ground. Salt water is like a match to Li batteries. Sometimes it is right away, and sometimes it is months later.

Not to worry....story today about Bend Oregon program to provide 'emergency charging' for stranded EVs.....their portable unit advertised as 'providing 14-30 mile charge' in 30 minute roadside rescue unit.....

Bend is on the Western Edge of the Central Oregon High Desert country. IIRC Sisters & Redmond are both 20 miles away. Who knows where the closest chargers are? Yes, I have been told one answer to that question.....

There's some simple math here:
$35,000 / $3 = 11,666.6 equivalent gallons of gas, assuming gas costs $3/gallon.
Assuming just 15MPG that's 175,000 miles worth of gas, but doesn't include the cost of the electricity to charge the battery during the life of the battery. Honestly don't feel like calculating that, but let's just say it's not THAT inexpensive.

All arguments shouldn't be considered in a vacuum.

How much would a replacement SVT Raptor engine cost?

Would an SVT Raptor engine also be hard to find? Have you heard of other people waiting on parts from Ford for ICE engines?

Yes, battery packs are ridiculously expensive. But the ridiculousness is tempered by the reality that, yeah, high performance vehicles are just stupid expensive in general.
