Im looking to upgrade my mothers cell phone. She does not need the latest and greatest. She has a samsung s5 which is getting very buggy. A S6 would do her just fine. I was hoping to find a NIB s6 but I guess a refurb would suffice.
Phone needs to be Tmobile, ATT or unlocked.
Are the any reputable places I should be looking? ThanksThis message has been edited. Last edited by: gpbst3,
Does Samsung sell refurbs direct like Apple does with the iPhone?

I’ve had good luck with Swappa. They verify that the IMEI of the phone has not been included on any lists of stolen phones.

I bought my last refurb through Walmart online (not a third party vendor selling on Walmart.com) and it was great.
Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.

My current cellphone I bought directly from Motorola online, and the one before that I got from Amazon.

I second Swappa, having bought several iphones, a Samsung Note and an ipad. Had one issue with an iphone and got my money refunded as soon as seller received the return.

Best deal I got was from Xfinity Mobile. But you have to be a customer to get the best pricing.

Keep an eye on the classified here at SIGforum. If you don't need the latest, there are often used phones available here.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I checked out swappa and it seems they do not sell the phones directly and link to 3rd parties. Im not sure I like that.
I have found gazelle sells phone and they do their own inspection/ refurb and have a 30 day return policy.

Check out Best Buy if you have one nearby as they have some pretty good deals on cell phones right now with plenty of new ones $200 and under. They can also get it activated for you with most of the carriers. The have Moto G6 on sale right now for $199. Motorola Moto G6 has excellent ratings for the price.
Personally I avoid refurbs but that is a personal decision. Wife and I just got new Samsungs at Best Buy. I got the S7 and she got the S9+.
Whoever she has her cell phone with right now probably has low cost phone options new and certified refurbs.

I bought my current S5 from Ebay. I'd just buy a new, and not refurb or used. Its worked great for a couple of years now.
Funny you mention your Mother's getting buggy, as mine has been acting up lately too. I frequently have to reboot it, when it connects via bluetooth to my truck, it becomes almost unusably slow, and Google Maps about stalls it too when first launched.
