Is there such thing as a basic, aperture priority camera being offered?

I'd love to have a fairly simple, smallish camera with a convenient ring or dial to select the aperture with the camera selecting the appropriate shutter speed, center auto (or manual) focus, with a good zoom lens around 40-100 which could be manual as well. A digital Nikon FE retro so to speak.
I know it's possible to navigate through menus, screens, and settings on new cameras to achieve some of this but I would like a camera that doesn't require all that. I think I know the answer and it's no.

4x5I think the only one you'll find is the Nikon Z fc
here. It has all the standard controls - ASA, shutter speed, exposure compensation, and aperture, with manual and automatic exposure modes. I, too, was looking for something similar recently, and this is was all I could find.
It looks pretty nice:

mikeyspizza Panasonic ZS100 has aperture-priority mode, shutter-priority, manual, auto, flash, exposure comp, autofocus and manual focus, and more. A great little pocket zoom. I use it way more than my D7500. $600.

ridewvThe Nikon Z fc looks about as close to what I envision as anything I've seen. One question I have is it seems like there are fewer zoom lens being offered in the 50-100, 80-200 categories, is this because digital zoom is being used more?

It's because optics for Zoom lenses have improved enough that an 18-135 lens has the quality of a Prime such as a Nikkor 50mm f1.4.
I've stopped counting.

Dave BeanFujifilm has some wonderful small body cams that fit your bill.
https://fujifilm-x.com/en-us/products/cameras/The X100V is just a simple design with a fixed lens ( I believe)
You can go to their XT bodies for interchangable lenses. I think some of their lenses have an aperture ring.
Being a film guy originally, I find the X-Pro3 sexy as hell, the "film window" in the back... lustful.

SIG4EVAI'd highly recommend a micro four thirds if you want a compact full capability camera.

weiser09Similar to the Nikon Zfc mentioned above, the Nikon Zf, is a full frame version. Slightly bigger, but better AF system.

An X100V with a mid range zoom lens could fit the bill, unfortunately it only comes with a fixed standard lens. XT3 would do what I want but it has SO much more in the way of "features" that I would have to filter through just to have the basics that I want.

1s1kI’m not sure if this was s the type your talking about but my Canon Powershot G1X will go from fully manual or will lock one aspect like aperture priority so you can select the other parameters.

ridewvUnfortunately I had a bad experience with Canon CS so that's one brand I won't buy.

Lineman101My X100V is the best camera I have ever used. And the X100V can use “recipes” to mimic just about every film type used.

ridewvThe only thing holding me back from buying an X100V is the short lens or lack of at least moderate telephoto capability, say to whatever digital equivalent a 90mm would be in 35mm format. It comes with a 23mm lens which is only about a 35mm lens in 35mm format. I know they offer an adapter to increase the power some but not that much.
