Come on the rest of the way into the dark side and get some AirPods.
Seriously, I've used earbuds of a variety of types and designs for over a decade. AirPod Pros really are great. If by some chance none of the tips fit well, look at some options for materials and sizes, as I had to do for Deniseair.

Can't help you with the under-$50 route, but if you want to cry once, the Apple Airbud Pro's I gave my wife for Christmas were very well appreciated and are her favorite personal listening devices ever. She has tried maybe 20 pairs of various buds and muffs and everything in between she uses for music, and teleconferencing. She attends up to a dozen job-related teleconferences a week, so they get frequent use.
Of course, the gotcha with the lightning-connected buds is that you can't charge your phone, or link it to your computer/car/etc. while you are listening.

I love my Apple AirPods. I resisted the Apple monolith for years and finally gave in. Their stuff is great. I have had my AirPods replaced under warranty several times, though. They have not lasted long. However, if you get them from Costco, you can always exchange for new ones when yours go bad.

For flights I use Bose QC-30's or QC-Earbuds because they lock into my ears better and have longer battery life. The Air Pods Pro can and do fall out, and the normal Airpods are useless to me since they fall out instantly.

A year or so ago I bought a set of Raycons for $49. Okay but surely wouldn't satisfy even the least discriminating audiophile. Seems that model is now discontinued and the cheapest is $79. I'm waiting for the next generation of Airbud Pros to come out later this year. They'll be over $200 I'm sure, but the current generation will likely be heavily discounted. The regular Airbuds (not pro) are a no go for me. Not having rubber inserts, they fall out of my ears.

I have a set I use for my workouts. They are just fine. No, they don’t sound as good as my Dynaudio speakers, but that’s not their point. I have zero complaints with them for a general use ear bud.

These by Plantronics have been fantastic for us. They were suggested to me by another forum member. $28.00 My only complaint is the wire between the ear buds could be an inch or two longer.
Wal Mart is listing Apple Airbud Pros gen3 for $47. Tried to post a link but wouldn't go.

I started buying bluetooth earphones from the Amazon Daily Deals page to cheap out when Samsung dropped the earphone jack on my Galaxy S20. All the ones that I bought were less than $30 and were good enough for my uses. The only issue I had was that there was only about 6 hours of usage before they had to be recharged, which is why I kept buying different ones. Until I bought some Sony WI-XB400 Wireless In-Ear Extra Bass Headset/Headphones from a vending machine at the airport did I get a pair that would last the entire shift at work. Don't forget your earphones when going on a trip or you will have to pay too much to have something to use while away. They were like $70 at the airport and $28 on Amazon and $40 at Best Buy when I checked just now.

If that is right, I’d jump on it. I went through 2-3 different cheap brands before settling on AirPods. I never gave a damn about all the fluff features; they just plain work better.

Just remember that the Walmart website also sells stuff from third party businesses like Amazon does. Just because it's on the website doesn't mean it's in the store at that price.

Well they call the Airbud Pros 3rd gen, but down the page they show the manufacturer as TWS, so these are no doubt Chinese knock offs. When things are too good to be true....

I just bought these and they are fantastic. For the money, you can't beat them...They are being phased out for a newer version, so these are discounted heavily. $57 bux
