Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
Need to pull some spindles found a U pull place that has the vehicle I need them from. I have never utilized a U Pull junkyard before. Was checking out their rules and one is not allowed to use a jack amongst other tools. So is this a pretty standard rule? Now I am trying to figure out how one would pull a spindle with no jack, how one would pull a number of parts for that matter. For the spindle I need a jack to lift the vehicle and I need a jack to place under the lower control arm so that once the spindle is disconnected I could slowly lower the arm to safely let tension of the coil spring. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. I'm sure it's a liability disclaimer. Night call & inquire with that specific yard & explain what you're looking to do. Maybe they have a solution, or maybe the car you're after is stacked 3 high & there's nowhere to put a jack. The Enemy's gate is down.

We have a couple of local places, with, uh, "differing" safety standards. The one place is awesome. It's literally a "junk" yard, and he doesn't care what you do. I've rolled cars on their side before to get at stuff that I need. He'll sell you pretty much anything you can pull off for $20, but there's a very real chance you might die back there digging through cars stacked on top of other cars. The other place is more organized, but he about lost his mind when he saw me taking a jack back there one time to get a transmission cross member out of a truck. He told me to just let him know if we needed something lifted and they'd do it for us with the loader...which honestly sounds better than dragging a jack and stands back there anyway. Maybe that's an option at your place. That sort of place is definitely going to charge more than the first sort of place, though.

Some yards will lift it for you. They may pull the spindle for you for a small fee. They will torch away anything that makes it safer and easier.

Just call and ask them, Im sure they'll either lift the car for you or pull the part for you. Id guess not allowing customers to jack vehicles up has a lot to do with liability.

The U Pull R I frequent has the cars on self made jackstand made out of steel wheels welded together. Prices ar fair compared to the usual salvage yard and have a writen price list so you know what it is going to cost. Once I was wheeling my haul out and there was a mint T100 tailgate I didnt need so looked up tailgate price and was $50 so I grabbed that and was sold in 2 days on Craigslist for $150, paid for my project. As far as pocket parts they don't have a price for bolts or fuses and the like so I assume it is part of the $3 admission charge. They have never asked to look in my toolbox. “Let us dare to read, think, speak and write.” John Adams
