Spent 4 hours at my "gym" yesterday cutting, loading and transporting some nice sugar maple to my storage land. I had to split the large (30" diameter) pieces into halves and quarters for easier transport. It was a great workout. Who else has been harvesting firewood?

I should be but my chainsaw muffler bolt snapped off on Saturday. I had a large white oak fall on my property at camp. It's going to be quite a job to get it cut up and hauled up the hill. It is hard work, and I am 63 years old, but I love splitting and stacking wood. It means I will be warm this winter.

Nice load of wood there chbibc, you use a splitter or by hand?
I've been splitting a large locust (with a splitter) that was still alive when it fell over so it's for next year.
I'm pretty well stocked with seasoned wood for this coming winter.

Mornin'. I've got a 30 ton splitter. Makes things easier.

It's been a lot of years, but I cut and split many cords of firewood in my youth. We'd buy 4' unsplit, buck it down with a chain saw, then split with an all steel, 10 pound, wedge shaped, maul.

Wood was oak and maple. Oak splits easier.

I familiar with that loading method method, but still prefer to chunk them up. Was that guy in the video wearing hearing and eye protection when he was cutting? If not he's nuts.
