Have y'all ever heard John Cage's orchestral piece 4'33" performed? It's by far my favorite Cage composition. Enjoy...

I was born and raised in the greater NYC metropolitan area.

When I was a yoof in high school, I did not participate with other yoofs, sneaking into movie theaters. Carnegie Hall (the real one, not its newer namesake), was my target, along with the Met, and Broadway theaters. I would mingle on the sidewalk with the crowd that stepped outside for a smoke during intermission, and go back inside with them. Straight to the mens room until the after-intermission performance had resumed. By this time, everybody was seated, so I could just pick an empty seat and enjoy the remainder of the performance. I don't think I ever saw the first act of a play or opera. Wink

Using this ploy, I saw my first (and only) performance of a John Cage composition. I wanted my money back, even though I hadn't paid anything. I swear, if I had had some eggs or overripe tomatoes, I would have thrown them. Of course, the critics would probably have thought that was part of the composition.
