I live next door in Mississippi. Fairhope is a nice well kept retirement community that is growing. Daphne is more of a Mobile suburb. Area is known as the Eastern shore. Hurricanes happen. It beats shoveling snow. I have lived in NW Indiana as well.

I live near Pensacola. Fairhope is very desirable. An artsy, hip town. Far enough North of the coast to be safe from flooding. Traffic to and from Mobile to the eastern shore is not good, but why would you leave Fairhope?

We stayed in Fairhope a couple weeks ago and had fun wandering around and eating. My Sister lives in Daphne and would likely answer your questions if you'd pm an email. I see it's in your profile, so I'd send your questions on to her if you'd like.

Fairhope is heaven. Great neighbors, beautiful scenery, close enough to Mobile - but not too close. ---------------------------------------- “The further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.”

Not quite far enough for flooding. It is certainly not going to be as impacted as Gulf Shores, but it has been significantly impacted by past hurricanes.

Looks like a fun place to visit. I love the southeast, cuisine, friendly people, scenery, etc., etc. Pretty sure the wifey and I will check it out. I don't like the snakes and gators too much.

I'm getting the idea that my sister doesn't use email much anymore. (She texts which I refuse to do.) I'll call her and see if she will talk on her texting device.
