Using only Windows Defender along with careful web browsing and a password manager (Dash Lane) No issues since moving to w10, I guess about 5 years ago.

Some of the third party packages offer pretty good security, but MS issues an update monthly and is based on the very latest data.

I have been using Malwarebytes and it has been great. I also used McAfee for a while but it turned out to be a bunch of crap.

Use the built in Windows Defender. It's highly regarded. If you are not careful and don't trust yourself or other users on the machine, maybe also install Malwarbytes.

I use Norton and Malwarebytes. Check with your internet service provider as well as they often provide free copies for multiple PC’s through your account. Norton is provided through my Xfinity account.

Smart people, but it's a Russian company and no option
