Jim ShugartWhat antivirus software do you suggest.
I've got a new computer coming from Amazon tomorrow, a Dell laptop running Windows 10. I've used McAfee in the past. What do y'all recommend?

PHPaulAn IT guy who's judgement I trust told me Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) does everything you need, works seamlessly with Winders and is free.
I've been using it with Win7 for years without anything else and haven't had any issues.
Big fan of CCleaner too, run it once a day.

r0gueI have a little different twist. I went with BitDefender, but with their WiFi router (BitDefender Box) and package that protects (with installed software) all devices including smartphones. So far it seems good, if not without some minor hitches.
It also therefore can protect by virtue of its presence, All of the IoT in my house. I have 42 unique devices in my house. From all of my home theater crap, to thermostats, to smart plugs to Amazon Echos, PCs, Macs, iPhones, Kindles and so forth.

Yep, it's all I use and I haven't had any issues. You couldn't pay me to use Norton or McAfee.

cruiser68Been using Eset for the past 8 years on my home computers and kids's computers. I find it has low resource usage and, knock on wood, none of those computers has been hit.

BeancookerI use the commie software. Kaspersky has worked well for me. I don’t use a windows machine very often anymore. The MacBook is a PITA to use. I never should have bought it. Most all of my internetting is done via an iPad.

PatenI use Norton. They fixed the problems people complain about years ago. It is always rated highly and I have no problems using it. I do not use the subscription service. I simply buy a new 5 license package every year when it's on sale at Amazon. It works out to be less then half the price of renewing the yearly subscription.
