slabsides45Just saw this thread, monkey. Sand colics can be nasty business, we lost one back when my oldest was just a young teen.
Praying for you that it goes well and the horse pulls through. Failing that, that the horse doesn't pass in her presence. They are magnificent animals, and it's always awful seeing them go down.

sigmonkeyVet came by last evening and did another "tubing", passed lots of gas, but not the blockage.
I am still waiting to hear from my daughter on today.

That is going in the right direction, but still a long way from where he needs to be.

David LeeIf you can get this out of his system, no more sand. I been reading about this some and he can be fed on mats. Saw a photo of a horse grazing and he had a mouth full of grass and attached was a full pound of sand. No more of this please.

The "plan" is to treat him to the point that his gut is "cleansed, scrubbed" and that he will heal form the abrasion and mitigate the scarring as best as can be done, then a diet that is "wet" enough, (as he is not as good about hydration as he should be on his own), and then providing a proper feeding area to keep him from access to anything on the ground/sandy areas.
Part of it was the "home" he had. There are a lot of things that happened during that time that led to his compromised condition, and those things will not be an issue going forward.
