Tech experts: Hooking up a DVD/VCR combo to a 2021 Samsung flat screen
I’ve spent hours trying to figure out how I would connect a DVD/VCR combo to a 2021 Samsung flat screen and so far I’ve struck out.

So the TV is HDMI only, the DVD/VCR is RCA cable only. So I purchased some of the red/white/yellow cables and a RCA to HDMI converter. I thought that was all I would need, but so far I can’t get it to work.

Anybody here on the forum done this or have any advice? Is there a website or tech page that shows how to do this?

What's the sense in working hard if you never get to play?

Are you sure you don't have an HDMI in, RCA out adapter? That sort of thing would not typically be usable in both directions.

I was trying to do that and bought a Sony DVP-SR510H instead because it was easier. Also I use my Samsung S10 phone and bluetooth for music and videos. Lots of good stuff on YT.

The Sony can be programmed to obey the tv remote.

Do you absolutely need the VCR?

HDMI DVD players are inexpensive these days; you can find one for 30-50 bucks.

Just a thought before you spend any more money on converters and adapters that may not work.

We ended up hooking vcr to the only old flat screen with rca in jack that could process signal, a panasonic. From what I recall the new screen electronics don't convert properly. Need some type of signal converter box intermediate to the two devices.

From looking at reviews and question/answers the box gpbst3 linked above would work.
