Update:
Lots of printing but the mag storage has turned out great. Go a little more to go for some rifle mags and more trays for the top of each stack.

OP:

As soon as I’m settled on one setup, I start thinking about how to make it more organized.

I almost switched to slatwall recently, but I like my Akro-mils bins and the greater diversity in sized of Akro panels vs standard slatwall. Slatwall is coming in some variation of a 2’ panel much like lumber. 2x4, 4x8, 2x8 and so on.

I’ve still got about 2-3 weeks worth of printing to do, but I think it’s gonna turn out well.

Gun wall, still moving things based off action and era for lack of a better way to differentiate.

Gotta dig out my handgun pegs from storage and print a few more for all the leather holsters. But I’m liking having them out, especially the often used, rather than in a Tupperware. It also lets me check them more quickly for a touch up with renaissance wax.

Got about half the handgun mounts printed. Holds them securely and totally modular for barrel length, revolvers, and lights.

The magazine holders is what’s gonna take most the printing time. 30 or so mags per gun is gonna take a while but I think this system will be the most organized and efficient for my unwrapped mags not in large Tupperware. I’m not about to stack 200 AR mags, but for the 10-12 mags for each firearm I keep out it’ll work well. Especially with some nameplates installed.

I got a mess of shit to sort and print for, this doesn’t include the basement thankfully. It’ll free up some room for the Akro bins for reloading and misc items. Another benefit to the 3D printed mag racks is that each rack will be topped with a tray to hold batteries, lights, and other random small items.

I’ll post a photo of the finished mag racks later. I’m hopeful it works out how I’m envisioning it.

Sweet! Are these guns enclosed in a walk-in safe or armored room of some type?

Not at all. Moving every 3-4 years for the Navy prevents that type of upgrade. It’s currently behind a ring camera, locked exterior door, a 55# fur missile, 15-20 rounds of 9mm if me or my wife are home, then another interior locked door.

Those items combined should exceed a normal generic safe entry time. Which I would need 2+ of to hold all my firearms, optics, suppressors, and other high end components.

Once I retire I’ll have a full on gun room with a normal solid door, reinforced walls, and my normal 15-20 rounds of 9mm protection.

I’m not so concerned about the hard reinforcements as the constant monitoring which happens with my wife and dog at home. My final home will have me in it 98% of time so I don’t need a $5k vault door that only really impedes my access.

Currently everything is insured so fuck whoever wants to take it. My family’s birth certificates and other keepsakes are worth more at the end of the day. And on a monetary scale, they will pass over ounces of gold coins to take a firearm worth 1/5th as much given my hiding spaces lol.

My most conscience area of protection is the 5000 sq ft dehumidifier in the room that keeps humidity at 25% or lower. It also increases the temp to about 82° in this room but that’s a trade off.

Nothing ever rusts, seems silly to most folks but in a northern Midwest home without central AC it’s a concern of mine.

Damn, I wish I could do that, but not with the kiddos in the house. It would be soooo nice to not have all of my goodies crammed into a safe.

Looking good.

What are those suppressor wrap/tube things around many of your cans? I may have missed that in another post.

Thank you for the response OttoSiG. Back in the 90s I was a victim of burglary, the scum did not get much of value but beat the shit out of my safes without getting in. This was before I got an alarm system. cameras, etc. Did make me more security cautious.

I had a couple large safes that made me feel a little better, but moving those every couple years got old real quick.

It'll definitely be more secure once I retire.

When I leave Wisconsin I'll likely be overseas for my last 4-5 years, so they will spend that time in storage.

That is really cool. I have purchased pegboard magazine holders from Hammy3dPrints and those are working really well, but the fact that you have figured out configurations best for your system is really awesome. The 3D printed holders have just the right durability to them, and they don’t mar or beat the heck out of what they hold.
