I sold a gorgeous HK P7M13 last year that had been refinished by CCR in their CP-II finish. It's one of the most stunning pistols I've ever seen (let alone owned) and I ended up keeping it as a safe queen for years. I'm downsizing as part of my move to Puerto Rico and there was just no need for a safe queen so I decided to sell it. I noticed that one of the grip screws was missing and wanted to make sure that whoever bought it would have a complete pistol, especially with the premiums these are pulling.

Unfortunately there's no inexpensive way to replace a factory screw, especially one that's refinished. So I found an OEM screw from hkparts.net and had them ship it to CCR for refinishing. CCR then refinished the screw and shipped it to me so between the cost of the screw, refinishing it and all the shipping it ended up costing me over $50 for an OEM screw refinished in CP-II.

When I received the screw I was mortified. I think the picture speaks for itself:

To be fair I didn't take into consideration that different batches of CP-II are going to have color variations. But the tool marks? I figured at $9.00 a screw it should be free of any imperfections. I couldn't in good conscience sell this pistol for top dollar with two mismatched screws, one of which had those awful tool marks, so I contacted CCR and they agreed to refinish a pair of screws. That way if there were any color variations in the finish at least the grip screws would match.

I contacted hkparts.net and like CCR Refinishing, a live person answers the phone. I explained the situation and they asked for pictures to see what I was talking about. Once they saw the tool marks they immediately hand picked two replacements and sent them off to CCR. I'd like to note that I was expecting further communication after they reviewed the pictures. After all, I had purchased 1 screw. At the very least I should pay for the 2nd screw and shipping. HKparts.net would not accept my payment and they apologized for sending a "defective" screw in the first place. It's a rare thing to have a company do such a thing without having to ask for it.

CCR completed the work and sent the screws to me last August but I was in Puerto Rico so I didn't see them till I got back for the holidays and boy they are PRISTINE.

I was a little disappointed that despite HK Parts "hand picking" the screws, CCR still had to put some extra effort into removing any imperfections but I truly appreciate them going the extra mile. Here they are:

I sold the P7 at auction right before I left for Puerto Rico and the buyer was more than satisfied with his purchase. I sent him both screws in time for the new year and he really appreciated the followup as well as the craftsmanship. Unfortunately he can't send me any pictures of the screws on the pistol because he sent it out to Teufelshund to get all the maintenance done but I'm happy to hear that he plans on running it. It's one of the 3 most accurate pistols I've ever owned, the other 2 being a Dan Wesson Valor and my Sig X5 Competition.

Thanks again to CCR Refinishing and HKParts.net. Both went above and beyond to make this happen and it's important to give credit where it's due. Happy new year!

It’s gratifying that there are still companies out there who work hard to satisfy their customers. Unsurprisingly, many of them are in the firearms industry. Dillon, Ruger, Gemini Custom, Hogue, and many others…the list is long.

Nice. I have one of the last German police trade-ins. A PSP. Hopefully, I'll never be in a position to part with it. It is slated to go to my oldest son who is now a Sheriff's Deputy.

The two that you mentioned belong at the top of the list, along with Ryan Grizzle.
