I adopted a dog from the local pound. He's about 75 lbs and about a year old. A big old mutt.

I have had English sheepdogs, A chow, two GSDs and a monster black mouth cur. And a mini Aussie... This one is the strongest dog I have ever had. He is pure power. He destroys everything in minutes. Got a Kong bone and he ripped it open in less than an hour. Got a bear that was supposed to be a Kevlar blend, ripped the seams in 3 minutes. Tug of war rope, he damn near pulls me off the couch and I'm a big dude, then shredded it.

Anyone know of some truly indestructible toys? He loves to play but the graveyard of toys is getting very big and expensive.

and the 30 pound mini Aussie is a bitchy little princess and doesn't back down from him at all..

He never barks, is a super good dog. I'm going to do the DNA because I don't know what he is, but he could chew a brick with those jaws.

My 130 pound dog is a very heavy chewer. I've tried just about every "indestructible"/"heavy chewer"/"guaranteed for life"/etc. dog toy on the market, and they have nearly all failed within a short time. Especially anything made of any type of fabric, no matter the design or construction.

Some of the Kong toys hold up well, but mine has no interest in rubber toys. Yours may be different.

I've settled on beef shin bones and deer/elk antlers for mine. They hold up to a decent amount of heavy chewing. Just keep an eye on them and discard then once they get too worn down.

Even better if you or a buddy have some land and you can collect shed antlers for free and cut them down yourself with a bandsaw.

I've had dogs for decades and these are the best I've found.
We mostly have the Hurley chew toy and they've held up really well for years. Get the largest size.

Cow femurs. Get the sterilized ones, if used indoors.

They worked great for my bull dog.

Water buffalo horn is the only chew toy that Moose hasn't destroyed in under an hour. He's only 55lbs, but we've tried all kinds of soft toys and he even shreds the "strong chewer" ones made of rope and Kevlar. Like Rogue's dog, he doesn't like rubber toys. But he loves that Water Buffalo horn and it has lasted forever. The only downside is that it smells like shit when he gets it wet.

Then there’s Kong toys. Tough rubber balls.

Then we found the Rip Roarin Tough!
Yeah, the squeaker in them are blown out, but they’re not ripped apart and stuffing all over!

These Rip Roarin Tough ones are pretty good! My Bernese Mt. Dog has had the Beer Mug for about 2 years and its just now starting to show a little wear - hasn't torn yet though! The squeaker also stopped working on hers a while ago, which is fine by me And they are fairly inexpensive - worth a try!

I shoulda known better, but I decided to take a chance and get one of these Rip Roarin Tough toys for my heavy chewer, despite my past experience with a wide variety of so-called "indestructible" fabric toys that all failed quickly, as detailed in my earlier post.

His Rip Roarin Tough pizza slice arrived this evening, and after a little less than 10 minutes, there's already a hole torn in it...

At $19, that was about $2 per minute of playtime.

Oh well.

The Pizza has been around for over a year now!
The burger and the computer thing just about the same amount of time.

We have a 60 pound GSP and she cab destroy any cloth toy in about 15 minutes, rubber ones only marginally longer.

We have discovered that the plush toys she just rips apart and pulls out the stuffing. We got her a plush toy made by Cycle Dog (Made in USA) that is "flat" - no stuffing and it has been at least a month now and it is still in good shape. Makes sense because once she tore the stuffing out of the stuffed toys she continued to play with the flat "carcass". We're just eliminating the poly fiber-fill all over the house.

Just a thought.
