Some very basic reasons for gratitude this morning.
I tend to get a bit too caught up in watching news and political crap that drags us down, but today I'm going to do my best to be grateful.

I woke up in a warm, dry house despite the outside temperature being below freezing.

The lights came on at the flick of a switch.

The water coming out of my faucet was crystal clear and safe to drink.

The food in my kitchen was abundant and fresh.

While my body isn't what it used to be, everything still works and I'm not missing any parts.

Most people in the world, including many of our deployed servicemen and women could not make the same list this morning.

Thank you for reminding me to be grateful for all that I have.

Indeed.

When people ask me "How's it going?" one of my stock responses is "Well, I'm eating regular and I've got a warm place to sleep."

The house and neighborhood are calm and quiet. I'm able to boil water every morning and make fresh coffee by the cup. There is a flush toilet. Time for sit-ups after coffee. Plenty of healthy food. Hot water. A washing machine, preparing a fresh fitted sheet for the week.

Indeed!

Thanks for the reminder of how well off I am, even though I do have a replacement part, life is not too bad.

Thank God.

Well said, and being from MN myself I can say being warm in the house this time a year is always a good thing.

Well said.

We often overlook the little things,.................. well at least they seem little until we are without them.

I'm gonna jump on this gratitude train as well. For all of my "problems", life is treating me well.

Yes!

Me, too.

We live in the best country on the face of this planet and should remember that, each and every day. And to those who would tear it down . . .

If you do not like it here, there is a whole planet out there where you might feel better.

Not likely, but . . .

I'd complain about replacement parts, but when I was a kid there was no such thing. Treatment for cardiac patients was, "Well, take it easy." I spent several winters living on potatoes, bread, and peanut butter. And I haven't been beaten in years. Yeah, life is pretty good.

As I have gotten older, I have this same observation much more frequently than in my younger days. We have so very much to be grateful for, and all that pales with what we think we deserve and don't have. Thanks for another reminder!

Nothing to back it up, but I'd say about 70% of the rest of the world. Of that, I'd say 50% are embroiled in civil war, with food (more precisely, denial of it) used as a weapon.
