TommydoggTricare Prime Copay!!! Military retirees.
Any of you other military retirees with Tricare Prime go to the DR this year? Copay has more than doubled. 20 bucks to see your PCM, 30 for a specialist and 60 for the ER. I read that it may go up next year. It seems to me that Humana is trying to kill off those of us that don't have to use the VA. My wife has been referred to PT for her shoulder. 30 bucks a visit. What will it be next year?

ZSMICHAELThey tried to extract an additional 30 percent discount from their doctors this past year. It is all about the money. Humana tries to blame it on Congress. Your best avenue of complaint is your lobbying organizations in D.C. Let your lobbying organizations know about the issues and your Congressional reps as well.

SigmundWhen you turn 65 TriCare becomes TriCare for Life (TFL) and there's no fee. But they'll make you get Medicare which is about $135/mo. Medicare is always primary payer, we have zero co-pays with both plans.

Johnny 3eaglesAll you have to do is live to 65 and you're good to go.

I thought you were eligible for tricare for life at age 60, are you sure it's 65? I was looking forward to being eligible in 3 years not 8 :-(

TFL is a Medicare supplement and you must be eligible for medicare. Sorry to break it to you but you need to wait until 65.

Johnny 3eaglesTRICARE FOR LIFE at age 65 is absolutely correct. My wife turned 65 3 years before I did and my Tricare Prime went down 50%.

Age 60 is when a typical reserve retiree (like me) first becomes eligible for TriCare, you'll have two (maybe it's three now) plans to choose from. At 65 you'll have fewer choices but will only pay for Medicare.
We're talking MEDICAL plans here, I can't speak about dental plans.

Tricare dental is going away 30 December 18, retirees will now be eligible to sign up with the same dental programs offered to federal employees.
What is the monthly cost for Tricare once you hit 60?

Johnny 3eaglesTricare Prime is $289 in 2018.

SigmundFor the under 65 crowd, here's an article on TriCare Prime vs TriCare Select:

This is an important article to read, as it locks people into a plan for a year. I am guessing this is something that Insurance Company wanted as a cost savings measure. It is good that military times is pointing this out.
