Before somebody points out this belongs in the Lair, I believe both documentaries are culture, history, and politically focused and best suited for discussion in the Lounge. ================= Conservative radio host, pundit, and former California gubernatorial Republican candidate Larry Elder is the Executive Producer of the documentary Uncle Tom, released in 2020, it quickly became one of the most widely viewed and critically acclaimed documentaries ever produced.. and commercially successful. It's a powerful and moving piece and includes many historical photos/ videos and a range of interviews with prominent black Conservatives, as well as interviews with with everyday American blacks that are small business owners, and they dispelled many of the racial narratives used by the Left. When I first saw the documentary I recall thinking how much I would like to meet so many of those interviewed. Uncle Tom is an unrated documentary, has a few instances of profanity, the word "nigger" is used maybe 3 or 4 times, and there are various historical photos of the KKK violence, the civil rights race riots of the 1960s, and violence from the 2020 BLM riots. There are criticisms of both the Democrat and Republican parties, but much moreso the Democrats. I was profoundly touched by this documentary. It's disturbing in places, but an honest portrayal of American black history that effectively destroys many of the Left's political agenda-driven narrative... but it is also an uplifting and inspirational piece that gave me hope that, as deeply divided as we are in the U.S. today, there are many Conservative blacks that stand united with whites and with American values. It also connected some dots for me, filled in a few of my knowledge gaps. Run time on Uncle Tom is @ 1 hour 45 minutes but, for those who haven't already seen it, if you invest the time in watching it, I promise you it won't be time wasted. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ClCn4SKiZIY Uncle Tom II is available for pre-order now, and scheduled to be released 26 August (next week). In promoting Uncle Tom II, Larry Elder decided to release the original Uncle Tom for free viewing, but YouTube censored the documentary from the site. So Uncle Tom can now be streamed for free from the promotional website, but it is only available for free streaming until 8-26-22. Now that it's streaming free it seems a good time for me to rewatch it. You'll find the Uncle Tom II pre-order, as well as the free streaming of Uncle Tom here: https://www.uncletom.com/ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TNyPtEsbYOY Edited: to include Uncle Tom and Uncle Tom II documentary trailers. This message has been edited. Thanks for the heads up, haven't heard of this before. I have a lot of respect for Larry Elder. As do I. Larry Elder is incredibly articulate, intelligent, a mind like a steel trap, and a phenomenal memory and the ability to recall history, facts and statistics at the drop of a hat, and a brilliant debater... as well as an incredible sense of humor. He'll go on a roll, and then quietly drop in a funny bomb that leaves me blank for a moment, before realizing what he just snuck into the conversation..and I've caught myself laughing out loud more than once while listening to him. He also has a compelling life story, growing up in modest circumstances in Compton with hard working parents, as the neighborhood slowly turned from being mixed, to mostly black residents and gangs were forming, and racial tensions grew around him. His father was a Montford Point Marine Korean War vet, and his older brother served in Vietnam. Larry Elder has become a mentor to several of the younger generations of black Conservatives. If you watch Uncle Tom, be sure and post your thoughts on it.

Larry was on Steve Hilton's Next Revolution show on FNC last night, and the movie was mentioned. I hadn't heard of the movie, and intend to watch the 1st one this week. Looks to be relatively balanced/accurate documentary... __________________________________ NRA Benefactor I lost all my weapons in a boating, umm, accident. http://www.aufamily.com/forums/

It (Uncle Tom #1) was well worth the time. It sorta makes you wonder how so much of today’s “wrongthink” can even exist.

6 days left for the streaming offer to watch Uncle Tom free, and also the Uncle Tom II trailer, just in case someone is looking to watch a documentary this weekend.
When Larry had his radio show, every year right before Christmas, he would devote 6 hours, 2 full days of his 3 hour radio show, into recounting various stories from his book, Dear Father, Dear Son: Two Lives... Eight Hours about how, as a boy he hated his father and after an argument they were estranged for 10 years, and only after intending to confront his father with his list of grievances against him, did his father tell him about how difficult his life had been, but how he managed to make something of himself despite adversity, did Larry Elder finally begin to understand that he knew nothing about his father's life, but started to appreciate him, and they became not only close as father and son, but also as friends. No matter how many times I heard that show rebroadcast, I always tried to make the time to listen to it the following year. I'm not sure if this is still in the works, but Larry once mentioned that he was in talks to turn his book into a movie. Thanks for including the link to the TimCast Larry Elder interview. After I watched the segment where Larry talks about his Dad I doubled back and found another segment of the interview where Larry destroys the notion of systemic racism in the U.S.

Mike, you're welcome. I'm glad you were able to make the time to watch it and thought it was worth your time. Uncle Tom seemed to focus more on what an "Uncle Tom" is and focuses on dispelling the Left's narrative that America is systemically racist, and goes onto show how many blacks have succeeded and prospered here. Uncle Tom II picks up from where Uncle Tom left off, but focuses more on how the Marxist radically Progressive Left uses racism as a tool to further divide us, creating a dependent class voting base, and push the U.S. further towards Socialism/ Communism and Totalitarian government. Marx was a racist and who also hated God and religion, and was infatuated with the notion that 'anything that exists must be destroyed.'.. meaning he wanted to destroy any and all generally accepted establishments. Religion, family, Capitalism, generally accepted social norms etc.. needed to be destroyed first before his beliefs could be implemented. Both of Marx's daughters and their husbands entered into a suicide pact. One daughter and her husband completed the suicide pact after killing themselves, the 2nd husband killed his wife (Marx's daughter), but then failed to kill himself and, after later being aquitted of murder, Marx held a grudge against him. Marx didn't invent racism, but he was a racist and followers of his have most certainly found ways to replace class warfare with race warfare to push their agenda forward.

I checked their YouTube page, the video is still available, but it gives a content warning when you try to open it. https://youtu.be/Bef-2FUbQcI I hate offended people. They come in two flavours - huffy and whiny - and it's hard to know which is worst. The huffy ones are self-important, narcissistic authoritarians in love with the sound of their own booming disapproval, while the whiny, sparrowlike ones are so annoying and sickly and ill-equipped for life on Earth you just want to smack them round the head until they stop crying and grow up. - Charlie Brooker
