V-TailIs Anybody Going To Pamplona Today?
July 7 -- Feast of San Fermin.
The annual Running of the Bulls.
When I worked in Spain I was told that the Spanish Army Hospital in Pamplona was recognized as the world's best trauma unit for puncture wounds. They get a lot of practice.

"The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. At Rotterdam, London, Warsaw and half a hundred other places, they put their rather naive theory into operation. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind."

Rey HRHMy pilgrimage is always to the annual running of the gerbils in Pasadena. It took me a couple of years to learn the best tactic is to run backwards to better protect your vulnerable spot and their favorite entryway.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown July 07, 2018, 10:29 AM

GustoferAs a young man, that was on my bucket list of things to do. I was chased by a lot of bulls as a kid, and always felt confident that I'd fair well. Unfortunately, I never got around to it.
Now that I can't run anymore, I'd still love to go just to experience it. I'd sit on a balcony, sipping whiskey, smoking a cigar, and doing my best Hemingway impression, while the carnage went on below me.
Good times.

PHPaulWell, I did The Running of The Errands.
20 miles in one direction to get a hydraulic hose made and their machine was on the fritz.
20 miles back and 15 miles in the other direction to the only other place in the area that makes hoses. Fortunately, they were able to handle it. $65 and a half a tank of gas later, I have the hose I needed.
Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

corsairThere had to be a couple of genius' way back when this festival started, that for a few weeks a year, that Basque town would rake-in some serious tourism dollars in both food, alcohol, accommodations and hospital visitations.

Is Pamplona a Basque town? I thought it is in Catalan territory.
