Any good ones for under $100?

I’m curious what would be needed to get setup to clean things like jewelry or swap to something like a small engine carb?

Pictures of cleaned items I see online look too good to be true a lot of times.

I went for the Harbor Freight Chicago Electric Ultrasonic Cleaner some years ago. It was out the door for $60. Runs just as advertised.

Gun parts come out pretty clean with water and a little dish soap. You just have to rinse in plain water and blow out the parts with some compressed air. Easy Peasy.

I have an inexpensive Magnasonic Ultrasonic Cleaner CD2800 which ran me about $30 back in 2016. Use it to clean eyeglasses, small parts, jewelry, etc. (Now up to $50 here: https://www.amazon.com/Magnaso...uments/dp/B00HZVYAVM )

It was just used to clean and separate an optical doublet from finder scope on a telescope. The old glue between the elements was failing causing "snowflakes." Soaked in mineral spirits for a few weeks before washing it off and on the second three minute run of the cleaner SUCCESS> Big Grin

Glue failure of objective doublet

Condition after mineral spirit soaking

Separation after second three minute run. Used warm water with a drop or two of Dawn.

Drying elements before final cleaning and reassembly (can use a couple drops mineral or 3-in-1 oil)

I have a Hornady that was about 100 ish. Maybe 120. I like it a lot. I hear that the harbor freight ones aren’t bad but the problem with them is that water gets in from the seam where the tank meets the lid and that’s what kills em. But silicone fixes that easily. If I ever need to replace mine I may go that route. Whatever you get make sure it has a heater and use distilled water so it won’t rust anything. I use simple green for gun parts and for cleaning brass I use simple green + nitric acid and dish soap. Don’t put gun parts in that..
