I have had my 2014 Ram for 3 years, and I have no complaints. The ride is great, all the power I need, and gas mileage has been good(hemi with the 8 speed).

Had I not bought that, I would have probably purchased a Tundra

My 2006 Tundra with the 4.0L V6 currently has 342,000 miles. Spent almost nothing on it in repairs until 2 years ago when it needed a head gasket. Truck was in great shape otherwise so I went all in on both head gaskets, a valve job, a timing chain, and a tranny wiring harness connector. $2500, running great, and the truck owes me nothing.

Tundras don't have to cost a fortune. Mine is an SR5 2WD access cab with the small engine purchased as a basic work truck/commuter. Closest equivalent is a 2017 that stickers for about $36K, but can be bought for around $30K after cash incentives, $9 K more than my truck was nearly 12 years ago. It's the 4WD, CrewMax cab, big engine and all the toys and goodies that add up fast.

I bought a 2017 Tundra last year. My brother-in-law bought a 2017 F-150. A co-worker bought a Chevy 1500. I like them all. I'm very happy with the Tundra, and they're happy with their choices. Of course, that's to be expected with trucks that are less than a year old. One of the main reasons I went with the Tundra is the convenience and long-term experience in my family with the nearby Toyota dealer. I got a good deal on the purchase, and their service department is very convenient and efficient for maintenance. I will say the Tundra's interior is a bit less fancy than the others, but I actually prefer that on a truck. It rides great on the highway and has plenty of power with the 5.7 V8. It has the only bells and whistles I really care about and some I could do without.

I bought a new 2012 F150 in May of 2012. It just ticked over 100,000 miles. I am still on the original breaks but that will change this weekend when it goes in for its 100k service. I have had 0 problems with the truck.

I have the 3.7L V6 in the XLT Trim. 6.5 foot bed and extended cab. I know not the manliest engine choice but over that 100k miles I have averaged 19.1 mpg ( the 2nd trip counter has never been reset). I don't haul or tow much just homeowner stuff.

I would highly recommend the F150.

I cant stand the GM trucks because of one MAJOR design flaw - The wheel wells are not round. They are squared off. Why GM??? Wheels are round. Every other vehicle on the road has round wheel wells.... (sorry for the rant)

When I was shopping I drove all the trucks. The Tundra was the best. The F150 was second. However, Ford had 72 months no interest and I negotiated $400 per month with no money down. The Toyota would have cost me over $500 per month and I would have spent a lot more on gas.

good luck on your choice. I really don't think you can go wrong with a full size truck.

I purchased a Nissan Titan XD Pro4X a couple of months ago after looking at the Chevy / GMC, Dodge and Toyota. I was really impressed with how the truck drove and the included features. At the time, they were offering really good incentives. I have been really impressed with the truck since then. MPG sucks, but I knew that going into it. They come with 5 year 100k bumper to bumper warranty.

It may not be what you are looking for, but I would at least go drive one and compare it to the others.

I had a gmc from 2005 to 2012 then got a ford in 2012. Liked my gmc, but when a i get another new one it will be a ford crew cab with another ecoboost. They sure are expensive though....to replace my current platinum with a new one would cost 65k....I will hold on to mine a bit longer.

Recent F-150 purchase here. The Tundra was over $10,000 more for similar specs. I don't believe that it warrants the higher price. Plus as the #1 seller, if we have any disruptions with supply of parts (war with China or N Korea), there will still be used and new F-150 parts everywhere.

Hands down, SRW F-350 with a gas motor. Probably within $2,000 of comparably equipped F-150.

I have had no trouble from the F150. My neighbor always drove Chevys but went with Ford after the government bail out thing and was shocked at how much better the Ford was in comfort, ride, power and overall quality. He's been a Chevy man for 45 years and said he would never go back after one Ford.

2016 F150 Lariat owner. Runs like a top, rides and handles nice, no troubles. Would buy it again. I like the Made in Detroit sticker on the bottom right portion of the windshield.

2010 Ram 1500 owner here. HEMI. Been absolutely trouble free for 141k miles. One of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. Fantastic engine. Great handling and ride. Surprisingly good MPG. Reliable. Since the current Ram models are at the end of their run in 2018, there will be some pricing values this year.

If I were in the market today I would have trucks in this order based on my experience.

Ram
Tundra/Chevy
Ford

Who sold what and how much doesn't impress me; I'd buy what I like. As far as how many miles you can rack up, pull maintenance! Not just checking the oil but changing it. My last GMC had 347,000 miles on it. It died because some numbskull ran a redlight and broadsided me.
Items to do to any truck or vehicle:

Change fluids. Oil, trans, pwr steering and brakes. Change rear axle oil.

Once a year or two look at hoses, belts, brake lines and general underside for deterioration and leakage. FIX whatever is failing or looks like it.

I wipe my interior, door and window gaskets down with ArmorAll once a year; usually in the fall. Keeps them from sticking.

Touch up scrapes in the paint. Rust is a killer over time. Wash and wax once a year, that include washing off the underside.

Personally I find the prices on new trucks ridiculous. I'd buy a used one that had reasonable care taken of it. But that's me.
