Thank you Very little ![]() |
Drop in a picture of your bike, or one of your favorite bikes that got away.... One of the photo library's popped up this picture of my 2000 HD Heritage Softail, pumped up with an S&S 124, custom numbered HD Paint set, there were only a couple hundred of these sets. Bike was stupid fast... traded it in a few years back, another one of those "stupid mistakes" we car/bike owners regret daily. Picture was taken when a group of us met at a friends house for a BOTS meeting.. ![]() Probably head out for a spin this evening, it's up in the low 80's today, so lucky in living in FL.

That's a nice looking Softail. I am SO ready for Spring to get out and ride and do some traveling! Ice is almost melted off the drive but my dirt road is mud and the hard roads are covered in cinders and pea gravel. Of my current motorcycles this V85TT might be my favorite all around one. This is on a local road during a morning ride. ![]() For long distance rides it's hard to beat a Goldwing though. I believe this was in Michigan UP on the way to Montana. ![]() A couple days later on a well maintained gravel road in North Dakota. ![]() No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

If you'll excuse a bit of thread drift... I've more-or-less given up motorcycles (I still have one I intend to get on the road this year) but I'm getting the same sort of itch to get the Vette out of hibernation. 8-10 weeks out tho. It'll likely be warm enough sooner than that but the salt/sand/grunge will still be on the roads and I am NOT subjecting the car to that. Be careful when following the masses. My baby. Colin Edwards II got Honda to make changes to the VTR1000SP1. This ended up being the 2nd version, the VTR1000SP2. In America it was the RC-51. I had done everything to it. Brembo floating rotors, S/S lines. Sato Banzai exhausts. Full Ohlins front and rear. Tuned by Dan Kyle of Kyle Racing in Sand City, CA (RIP). Morwiwaki radiator fins. Moriwaki dogbone to lift up the rear. Had the best front end of any motorcycle I’ve owned to date. I could late brake at the track and stuff it into the corner with any line I chose due to how solid that front end was. It was paid for, including all the modifications. Had to sell it in 2006 due to a layoff. The best part of the story is if I hadn’t preemptively sold it to CYA, I wouldn’t have my house today, or credit, etc. I listed it for sale on a RC-51 forum, no cycle trader or other apps. It sold in less than 1 hour to a guy in Vancouver BC. He flew into DFW, picked the bike up and rode it back to Canada. Then he lost the title and I had to scurry at the DMV to get a replacement and overnight it as he was stuck at the border and couldn’t get it into the country. Later he wrecked it at a track day. When he rode off from the house in 2006, I went inside and was almost in tears. It broke my heart to watch it ride off. I loved that bike. ![]() What am I doing? The brief time I had 2 bikes, and a decently fun car. 2017 Kawasaki Vulcan S - Was an extended loan from my dad, had it about a year. Really fun low displacement bike. Handled much better than a cruiser should & a 10k RPM redline made it more fun as well. 2001 Indian Scout - Father-in-law's bike, effectively a reskinned Harley Softtail IIRC. He still has it, along with a Victory CC Tour. S&S88, straight piped (but not obnoxious if you're easy on it) & has been retuned since they've been here in TX [off the high altitude CA tune]. Lots of torque & a comfortable highway bike. And the Mercedes C300 was a fun DD when it wasn't bike time All 3 are gone now, though the Indian is still accessible & only about 3 miles from my house. The Vulcan gave way to a Lotus 7 replica, which got sold for lack of a garage when we moved & was replaced with an MG Midget. ![]() The Enemy's gate is down.

I picked this one up new several years ago. 2023 Yamaha YZF R3. It's just fast enough to have a little bit of fun and hopefully not kill me. 321 cc, 42 hp when it was stock. It's up to about 2500 miles now on the odometer. I plan on trailering it to South Caroline later this year when I go and visit my brother. It's a hoot to drive it on the "twisties" as it has a six speed gearbox and 12,500 RPM redline. ![]() This one is a 2013 Harley Davidson Road King. I got it new in October 2012. I've ridden it all over the east coast. Odometer is up to about 27k now. Since the purchase, I discovered it has paint that makes it a LE/Firefighter/Shriner exclusive paint color. I have ridden the Road King in NY, PA, OH, CT, MA, ME, VT, NH, WV, TN, VA, NC, and KY. The Road King even went to the the top of Mt. Washington in the Presidential Range in New Hampshire. ![]() Parking lot at the top of Mt. Washington. ![]() ![]() ![]() And NO, there is zero motorcycle riding for me for a number of months. I just took this photo out the back door here at my house. ![]() NRA Benefactor Life Member NRA Instructor USPSA Chief Range Officer

Rainman, I love the Duc... sex on wheels. To the rest of the posters here, loving the cruisers and bullets. I miss bikes but I couldn't take my bike going down (CBR dude here) with me on it. Fun thread.

After almost 2 years without snow, I am going to ride the winter crotch rocket tomorrow. Harley ain't made one of those in many years. Throttle Theropy is needed. “Let us dare to read, think, speak and write.” John Adams

I can imagine how tough it was to let that bike go, especially with all the custom work. I bet you still think about it sometimes! I'm planning to get out for a ride later too. ___________________________________________________ in the 'Merica Navy they teach you to go pew pew pew...
