Curious if anyone here is running the Graphene OS on their cell phone? I've been looking into dumping my iPhone 6 for something that actually gives a damn about my security/privacy and ran across Graphene running on the Google Pixel 4A and above. There are also several apps that mirror many of the more common apps/most used apps on cell phones like for maps, email, etc. I was curious as to what you thought of it after making the switch?

What model phone do you propose to run Graphene on? I ask because hardware support appears to be fairly limited. I would consider it if any of my phones were in the list, and if (and only if) rooting was supported.

Graphene itself seems to be little more than a typical AOSP distribution, but with an emphasis on security rather than spiffy graphics and a curated list of add-ons.

To my understanding it will run on any Google Pixel phone 4A or higher, but I have seen some running on a Pixel 3. I haven't dug in yet as to which one I would purchase yet. I would prefer a solution I just buy already done, while scarce, they do exist.

The other option is to go with something like the Purism Librem, but at $1,200-$2,000 that's a huge slug of coin to put down on a cell phone and honestly at least double of what I really want to spend. I don't need bleeding edge, just functional and secure. However, they are the only U.S. manufactured cell phone in existence.

I'll bet ya that much of the content comes from Asia. Yeah, they may make the PCB and assemble it in the USA, but I'd be willing to bet many of the parts come from off-shore.

I decided to go with CalyxOS which is still a bit more permissive while still being privacy oriented. You can anonymously download apps through Aurora, and it will tell you what trackers are present so you can decide whether a particular app is worth the risk.

I have been pleased with it.
