If the point of the assignment was to write letters, why not instruct the students to write letters to lawmakers expressing their stance on gun control instead of trying to force an agenda? Idiocy.

Fuck that. That "teacher" needs to be fired. Stay in your lane. You're there to teach children, not indoctrinate them with your shitty politics.

Wow. That is complete bullshit and the teacher should be fired for pushing what was most likely her own personal agenda on the students. I don’t care if the letters were to be mailed or not. She was either trying to brain wash the kids and/or get extra letters from children to lawmakers asking for gun control.

7th grade students should not be writing fuckin' letters on policy. They are children, not voters. Sheer stupidity, just the commies using children to do their dirty work. How low leftists slink to, incredible.

In some WWII documentary they mention a stmt by the Hitler regime to reluctant adults along the lines of "you don't have to agree with us, we have already programmed your children". I have seen something similar, a grandson is learning in school the shortcomings of America's founders.

This is part of the assignment:

“For this assignment, you are writing a letter to the lawmakers of the United States. The purpose of this letter is to pressure lawmakers to have stricter gun laws in the United States. Your letter should contain at least five complete sentences. Make sure that you use proper grammatical skills when writing your letter,”

First, 'grammatical skills'?? How about 'grammar'? As in, 'make sure you use proper grammar.'

Second, these are 7th graders, and this letter only needs to be five complete sentences?

Dear Lawmaker,

I am forced to write this letter as an assignment in my 7th grade class. I am happy to oblige, because I know the chances of you reading this letter are slim. Further, the chances of any change as a result of you reading this letter is zero. Please ban assault weapons. This is the fifth sentence of this letter.

Respectfully,

Student

Not convince, not persuade, not think critically about, "pressure lawmakers to have stricter gun laws."

Both the means and the ends are wrong.

Children are not unpaid slave laborers for the teacher's political agenda.

Is this perhaps a Hatch Act violation?

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

The Hatch Act applies to employees of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government.

Are you seriously asking if it applies to a teacher at a local school, in Hampton, GA?
