I'm seeing a lot of videos on some amazing LEGO builds with air powered cylinders, motors, gears, couplers and all sorts of mechanical bits and pieces.

Where does one get the parts to build such things? My google-fu is failing me.

Not looking for a "set" that builds a particular machine, more for a source of mix-and-match parts that can be used to create your own mechanisms.

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. -Ecclesiastes 9:11

...But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory, but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. - Psalm 63:11 [excerpted]

I need to go grab my LEGO stuff from Mom's attic.

The parts you're looking for, Paul, are part of the Technic series. I remember building some really cool stuff from the Technic kits lots of years ago. It's how I learned about universal joints, and how a rack-and-pinion steering mechanism works.

I read that there was a big sale at the LEGO store last week. They said people were lined up for blocks! Big Grin Big Grin

Thank you for the link, 83v45! That's going to fuel an ongoing prank between Mom and me. We hide random mini-figures at each other's houses. Cool

God bless America.

Ah. "Technic" was the magic word! Crapload of kits on Amazon. As I figured, it could get expensive pretty quickly.

Who needs Google when you have SigForum? Big Grin

Thanks. That's a bit more reasonable for some of the specific parts. Little leery of the "random assortment" stuff. 100 parts and 99 of them are bricks would be just my luck.

If you are feeling like you'd want to start from the deep end, Lego Mindstorms are the words you are looking for.

Good luck.
