A lot of things catch my interest. Most of them I may read about long enough to get a very basic understanding of. Then something else grabs me.

Firearms stuck. Baseball stuck. Scuba diving stuck before I had kids. Watches, diamonds/gem polishing, and the US presidents seem to hold my interest. Woodworking could have been a passion but I don’t have the space to have a workshop. Working on cars was enjoyable before getting to an age where joints started to hurt, and waiting for a heater to warm the car and garage was a pain in the ass.

Low level math such as refreshing solving right triangles and understanding how the unit circle keeps triangles in perspective. I find that basic trig was easier to learn than algebra. If I ever brush up on my algebra I might stick my nose in a physics book. Physics always amazed me. Chemistry and human biology I enjoyed also.

I enjoy history; specifically human history and the conflict of cultures. I really enjoy the rise and collapse of civilizations, the history of conquest and how natural events affect populations. It’s a rabbit hole.

I am a ballistics enthusiast. I like the science of trajectories, cartridge composition and firearms maintenance/improvement.

I like biographies. I like to walk cemeteries and read names, dates and epitaphs and superimpose the history of the world over their life span.

Finally I like to learn new skills. Recently began learn to sharpen knives properly. Hint: it doesn’t involve the bench grinder……anymore.

I wound up building electronics and wiring harnesses in my spare time.

From making a CANBUS harness from scratch or a Nixie tube clock out of 75 or so loose parts.

More recently I have been finding various items for store displays to keep my mind busy.

I'll have to visit Fort Sumter some day...
