taken earlier in the week using an ATIK420M CCD camera through my telescope

total image time is 0.001 seconds - no post=processing done except to manipulate the histogram a bit to remove grey and increase contrast

manual focusing only - which is going to be a bit of an issue but working on a solution

Nice pic but you scared me a bit with the thread title. I thought there would be pics of the Chevy Astro in here.

That's a great moon shot, especially with manual focus.

Deqlyn - I sent off for a registration for PixInsight - I don't really have any good IP software at present - probably won't get a response until mid-week next week

What I was able to do was a very crude histogram stretch but what I am lacking is a good FFT routine to do unsharp masking, and to do stacking - I have about a dozen images that I could stack and then crop as needed

Tommydog - I have a Vixen ED115S which is a 4-1/2" APO using what I consider to be an entry level monochrome CCD camera.

Was running the software that came with the camera for the capture but its a very lightweight program and several sources suggested that I install a program from the UK that does a much better job of camera control

Seriously, very nice photo. Space is just so amazing. It kind of saddens me that I won't be around to see us conquer it.

That wouldn't be a vintage StellaCam II by any chance would it?

I've got one along with a Moog 0.6x focal reducer. They have been paired with my Intes-Micro MN56 Maksutov-Newtonian on a SkyWatcher EQ6 SynScan mount (shown on the table in this picture along with a 12" B&W monitor.) Sadly health issues have keep me from using the kit for a good number of years now.
