Sitting at electrical supply house today and over heard guy talking about proposed laws changes in VA. I tell him many things I own will be outlawed too. He goes on to say he collects antiques and some of his antiques would be illegal. Goes on to talk about a revolver that shoots two rounds at a time and holds 8 rounds in a box style cylinder. I tell him I'm not a revolver guy and not familiar with that gun. He then pulls out a pair of gloves and sets them on the counter. Then he pulls out of his pocket some kind of revolver and starts to tell me how it's somehow similar to other one he was talking about, all while pointing it at his femoral artery. Did I mention, no holster, junk shoved in same pocket, and it looked like the hammer was drawn. I say have a happy New year, I don't know anything about revolvers and haul ass out. How did dude think any part of the that was normal? Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

I have encountered similar behavior at a Range that I no longer frequent. The guy came out of the range into the lounge, while pointing the pistol at the guy behind the counter asking how to clear a jam. There was a round in the chamber and he had his finger inside the trigger guard. You never know with human behavior.

People don't think. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." The only argument that can be made against the 2nd Amendment is the unbelievable level of idiocy one sometimes observes around firearms and other things. I have a couple hair raising tales of my own watching others nearly kill me with their stupidity.

I could never just walk away when I see unsafe shit like this. Get right in their personal space and let them know how stupid and uncool they are being. Yeah I know, they will be offended. Too damn bad. People who dont know better or just dont care need a staunch reminder. Get right in their shit and embarrass the hell out of them. Too damn bad.

You can't fix crazy. And I'm not about to want to get shot by some crazy idiot I don't know with a pistol in his hand. I'd walk away too as soon as I could.

You are making quite a few assumptions about how they will react. I vote NO on this course of action. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Dude sounds like a clown (and that's a clown gun) so you were smart to disengage ASAP.

"Getting in their face" is the wrong way to handle it. They will blow off what you say because you were a jerk. Politely stating what they are doing wrong is a lot better way to get the message heard. Arc. ______________________________ "Like a bitter weed, I'm a bad seed"- Johnny Cash "I'm a loner, Dottie. I agree 100% Arc but each of us should take the initiative and not just get scarce. Now, at a Gun counter if the lack of safety arises or, at a Range, getting up on your heels and making a point to the handler has got to be better. I cant agree with just walking away.

I have spent too much time in hospital during the past ten years, I do not look forward to another "vacation" there, nor do I relish the thought of a trip to the morgue. I have walked away from stupid gun handling at the range, more than once, and I will continue to do so. On the way out, I mentioned the problem to a RSO. They are paid to deal with this stuff, I am not. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Not the wises choice to "get in thier face and embarrass" some random person (possibly crazy). But if we don't try to educate good practises (Not only pertaining to guns), you'll end up with more of the same happening. You know, monkey see - monkey do. Just look at society, everybody turns a blind eye and its gone straight to the gutter! Education is the only way for things to change.

It can be a tough call. If you point out it is for their own protection, that may help. If they won't listen, back off. So many people don't know the basics (removing a magazine from a semi-auto does not remove a round from the chamber, etc.). All the more reason to look for opportunities to work with new shooters.

Apparently the guy in Mesa, AZ did eject the round in the chamber, at least. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

This is why I don't talk to people. My wife thinks it's so funny when people strike up a conversation with me in public, she know how much I hate it. She says I just have a friendly face.
