Goose5’s post is pretty spot-on. The only point I disagree with is about Pelosi delaying this makes no sense. I think Pelosi is in a bit of a panic and isn’t quite sure what to do. They messed up pretty bad, and they’re likely starting to realize it. The public is really not happy with all this except the rabid Trump haters. She’s stalling for time and trying to plot her next move.

Honestly, I expect that is correct and the Senate could take up the impeachment right now and dispose of it swiftly. I suspect that Mr. McConnell and his friends are having to much fun watching Crazy Nancy and her posse stew in their own juices and waiting to see how the Dims will next step on their proverbial crank.

The Dems have played their hand and taken their shots and come up empty. Once the Senate takes this up it will be over in short order and the case will be closed. They'll be 0-and-2 on Mueller and Impeachment and facing down another loss in November. So what they are doing now is simply stalling until they can figure out their next move. They certainly aren't changing anyone's opinion on either side at this point. Just wasting time and hoping for a miracle.

Yep, they've basically boned themselves with this. There's got to be a decent-sized army of aides and legal scholars burning the midnight oil, all frantically trying to figure out which piece to move to which square. They've not only painted themselves into a corner, they're trying to hit every last square inch while they hop on one toe and try to blow the paint dry. It's equally comical and revolting to watch the whole thing unfold, for one because they're really that stupid, and the other for the damage it's doing the country.

Can't disagree with any of that. It's astounding to me the two-faced fervence with which they denounce and seek to remove our duly elected president after how they so insisted that he 'leave that woman alone' after her coronation. They can't even recognize the duplicity.

I tried hard to miss politics generally. I skipped the radio and television starting the Monday before and found peace in it. Sadly, on Christmas night we had dinner with my elderly parents. My brother was there with his family and my sister was there with hers. I say 'sadly' because my brother is a never Trumper pseudo conservative self-righteous incognito progressive. Though no one was talking politics, my brother kept hammering away at Trump and his impeachment. Trump is vile. Trump is immoral. Trump is a racist. It wasn't continual but peppered throughout the evening. When he'd puke out some nonsense long ago debunked NPR talking point, I just held my tongue. Toward the end of dinner I couldn't take it anymore and told him to shut his stinking gob. That he should never raise politics or political topics around me again or he'd never see me nor my family again. I proceeded to defend Trump for what he has done in office to help the people of the country and that the vipers in congress are destroying us through him. He is just an effigy of us.

Now shut the F up.

I handed him his family gift card and left the room. Probably the wrong thing. It was certainly weaker than I had planned. I hoped I could get through the evening with my mouth stapled shut. Ruined Christmas dinner. And I forgot to get pie.
