jigray3Peanut The Cat Is Lost. $5000 Reward
Signs are posted in the neighborhood. I kind of want to call and tell them that cats are free. All you want. Too harsh?

nhracecraftYes too harsh, poor taste even...Not clever either! Do you not have pets? Clearly Peanut's people/family love their cat!

Balzé HalzéIf you literally called them and said that to them, uhhh, yeah. Too harsh.
But joking about it surely isn't. Offering $5,000 reward for a lost cat is fucking retarded.

tsmccullStill harsh. Presumably they love their pet and maybe they’re multimillionaires and 5K is pocket change to them. Do you know?

trapper189For $5k, maybe Dog the Bounty Hunter would take a look for Peanut the Cat.
$5k would make catnapping a felony, right? It would be grand theft in Florida. How long before people start grabbing family pets for the reward money?

flesheatingvirusI dunno. Maybe this is one of those special cats trained to use a toilet. Then it may be worth it.

architectI have sympathies for the owners, but allowing cats to run free (around here at least) only sustains the feral fox, coyote, and owl populations. I hear outdoor cats being harvested several times a year from my bedroom window, their terrified howls are unmistakable.

My mother has a beautiful Siamese cat named Buddy. She tried to make him an inside cat but at about 4-5 am he starts howling to go outside. So far, he always comes back (usually after a few hours outside) but she worries about him when he's out too long.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

jigray3To be clear, tongue firmly planted in cheek here fellas.
I find the logic of the reward amount a bit odd. Is there something that $5000 accomplishes that $4000 or $3000 doesn't? Perhaps a measure of their love for their pet? Ultimately, it's their money and their cat. I have no beef, in fact as a cat owner, if I found the cat I would happily decline the reward. I just find the amount puzzling.

Mustang-PaPaIts pretty cold and not funny at all.
Guess you have never had a bond and love from a pet that means something to you.

P220 SmudgeWhen my wife was eight months pregnant with our son, I was at work and she was home alone and answered the door to get the pizza she ordered. Around her giant belly and then the pizza box, she didn't see that our cat ran out the door. I cannot explain to you the stress that her guilt put on both of us. First of all, we dearly loved the cat, he was part of our young family. Secondly, he wasn't an outdoor cat, he was an indoor declawed rescue. Thirdly, it was January, and while January in the SeaTac area isn't like January in Michigan, neither is it like January in Arizona. He was missing for over a month. A month and a week of my wife crying with guilt and sadness, every day, inching towards my son's delivery date. A month and a week of us going out for hours every night walking the neighborhood calling for him. A month and a week of our other cat walking around the house crying and looking for him. A month and a week of me dearly missing the little guy, and really scared about what my wife's stress may be doing to our unborn son. We put up posters, we put up online ads, we offered a $500 reward because it's all we could afford. Then my wife checked I forget what online local community and saw an ad for a lost cat that looked just like ours. She called them, and the lady said she was just about to take the ad down because it had been so long. It was indeed our cat. He'd run out the door, run a street over, decided it was cold and was meowing at someone's door, apparently unable to find his way back. My wife held him tight and cried the whole way home.
Yeah, call them up and fuck with them. It'll be hilarious.

BOATTRASH1I'd be beside myself if one of our boys went missing. Joking about the reward here may be ok. To actually call them would be pretty shitty.

While I'm confident
jigray3 really had no intention whatsoever to do that, he clearly misread the room.

jigray3Correct, ensigmatic, no intention whatsoever to call the owners up. I'm stunned you even have to point that out.
So, for the record, no cats, or cat owners were actually harmed in the making of this JOKE. Yes, a joke. All of it. Designed to highlight the size of the reward and elicit discussion about it's effectiveness.
My Mommy didn't withhold love, I'm not a sociopath, I don't hate animals, or cats, or pet owners, all of that, I promise.
And, miss the room or not, I still think it's funny.

nhracecraft^^^Perhaps the wink/sarcasm/wise ass emoticon would have removed some of the questions re: your intentions. After all, you did infer you 'kind of want to call them'...Wait, you actually typed that! Just sayin'

mrvmaxI've had some pets I really liked, but in the end they are just animals. I know some people treat them better than humans but I'm not one of those. No offense intended to anyone here but $5000 is kind of high but hopefully they will find it.
