It has only been recently that DEMs control the VA House.

But when DEMs control anything, even by just one vote, they ruthlessly jam thru the far left agenda

I'll encourage you guys to call and thank him for holding the line.

804-786-2211 option 2

A nice lady answered and we chatted for a few minutes. She said many have called to say 'Thank you' and the Gov really appreciates the feedback.

The VA General Assembly got one thing correct this legislative year. I guess even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

It refused to spend $2 billion hundreds of millions of tax dollars on a new entertainment and sports venue in Alexandria for the DC-based professional teams the Capitals (hockey) and Wizards (basketball). According to Alexandria, this refusal to give $2 billion hundreds of millions to the owners of professional sports teams (who are wealthy in the extreme) has killified this boondoggle. Thank goodness.

If they want a new venue, they can pay to build it themselves.

As for vetoing these gun control bills, thank you Governor Youngkin.

As usual, the NRA tried to take credit for this. The VCDL did it with very little support from them. Youngkin has not let me down yet. I really hope Lt. Gov Sears is elected next year. So far, that woman clanks when she walks.

As a Virginian, and one who lives DEM-fested Northern Virginia, I'm continually concerned about the balance of power in Richmond. Youngkin is great but he cannot be relected two terms in a row by VA law...

I agree! Hopefully things look as bright in the next election cycle

This is absolutely critical to winning any office. Yet too many Republicans just don't understand it. They think they can just vote for whomever shouts the loudest during the primary and then they are dumbstruck when that person loses in the general election.

It also would have helped if more than 400 gun owners showed up in Richmond on Constituent Lobby Day this year. In 2020, right before COVID, we had 20,000. The Dems controlled both chambers of the legislature and the governor's mansion. Yet, decided to pass only a trickle of control bills that year.

I would love to see Lt. Gov. Sears as Governor and then U.S. Senator Sears. But I do not know if she can thread the needle like Youngkin did.

Youngkin was able to energize the conservative base down state while not offending the sensibilities of the liberals in Northern VA. A lot of Dems in NoVA felt they could just sit out the election which is why Youngkin was able to win. It also didn't hurt that his opponent was a carpetbagger from New York.

I'd argue it's ruined by the majority of NoVA residents from MD and other northeast states who left because of those policies and want to replicate here in VA.

Exactly I wish there was a way to let DC annex NOVA

It's not a "win" that the legislation was passed in the first place. It's not a "win" that it had to be vetoed. It'll be a win when they stop trying.

Well when they did control the house and the governor it was pretty dark days. We really thought they were going to pass some really egregious 2a laws. However, a few Dems stepped up and refused the comply. Mostly, the legislation then got sent back to committee and then Younkin was elected. It was so close.

I have been very pleased with Youngkin, and I know he has sights set on the Senate or even the Presidency. Today is a good day.

DC just signed a $515M,25 year deal to keep the teams in DC.

1/4 of the cost of the Alexandria venue.

I think Virginia just dodged a boondogle of unusual size.

In his Veto dissertation, however, I would have included, other methods by which people are killed or murdered, aside from "assault weapons", and included the RATE by which those incidents take place. That would further disclose how ridiculous it is to ban "assault weapons" when the homicide/murder rate with said weapon is EXTREMELY low as compared to other methods of homicide or murder.

JMHO to drive to point home to these Commie bastards!

they, the commies, would not have read it, just as must of them never read the bills,

they were copy/paste from the last attempt, with a bit of new flourish, and straight from the Dim Party archives,

they (the commies) will subnit the same bills next year, or the year after, depending on the election cycle,

I don't see it as good news that the dems are pushing like this. It was good news when Youngkin was elected, not that he's doing his job.
