Soccer team lost in cave in Thailand.
They can either try something, or sit there and watch them die anyway.

Like the EOD guy replied when asked what does he do when confronted with a potential bomb he has never seen before. He said you analyse it as best you can, and hope you are right.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Oh I agree, diving them out if there is no other option is the logical thing to do.

I just have a realistic expectation of the probable outcome.

Question for the divers; According to the articles I've read, there is a narrow portion where they have to remove their equipment to get thru. How do you do that buddy diving with a novice?

Cave divers use a spare regulator with a longer hose than an open water diver would use. This extra hose allows the diver to remove and replace their gear while the person on the spare regulator stays out of the way as well as follow far enough behind to be out of the diver's way in tight areas.

Good insight, SpinZone, thanks.

To all the rescue divers trying to get these kids out: RESPECT.
That kind of work takes balls.

Best of luck to all involved.

I hope none of the boys have hydrophobia. I have a buddy who cannot put his entire face underwater. And I mean with a facemask and snorkel, standing in waist-deep water.

I wonder if the kids know one of the SEALs died.

Hopefully the small stature of the kids will help them through the tight areas a bit easier.

Has anyone checked out the situation farther back in the cave? From the cross-section it looks as if the distance to the surface is less there, and possible there might be a way up.

Nope. I've been following this story pretty close; to include Twitter.

Well, they got in there pretty easily evidently, so getting out should be the same. Aside from being underwater of course.

Nothing official but word is they have prepared the cave entrance for reception. The street that leads up to the cave has been cleared, and there's a new warning sign about oxygen tanks and explosion danger.

Whether it helps or not, I am praying for these boys and the men who are rescuing them. A dangerous business.

Godspeed.

I read there are 13 medical teams, each with an ambulance and helicopter standing by.

It's 7:30am in Thailand right now. A good time to start a 6-hour+ op.
