Time for a fun thread...

My daughter and I were thinking of good names for Police K9's.

Topping the list is "Leo," for reasons that should be obvious.

Others were Wyatt, after Wyatt Earp, and then Clint and Norris, the latter named after Chuck Norris. And there was Reno for it's commanding sound, as well as Ozzy, until he stopped to bite the head off a bat mid-chase, so he was eliminated.

Priest was on the list because once the dog catches you, you might need a priest anyway Smile

I brought up "Chase" "Rocky" and "Marshall", to which my daughter's response was, "I've kind of outgrown them." Oh well.

Last on the list was Gunny and Gunner. Having a handler yell anything with the syllable "gun" in it might cause confusion at a bad moment. "Tazer" was eliminated for similar reasons. Although Gummy was on the list for a dog with prominent teeth.

So, what good Police K9 names do you know of, and the reasons behind the name???

When I served in the AF my supervisors K-9 was named Castor. Named after Zeus' son and was known for helping those in grave danger during times of warfare.

We weren't at war - but I sure loved to see that dog next to me when all hell would break loose at the NCO club on the weekends.

Mr. Smiley.

No, really he likes you. See he's smiling!

Would be a great news headline: "Police K9, Mr. Smiley, ate the testicles of a suspected home invader last night." A real feel good story. Big Grin

The indoor shooting range here had a BIG (probably 100+ pounds) black Shepard named Black Jac. He was a retired drug dog and intimidating as hell when he decided you were of interest.

Some of what I like in shepherd names….. Jaeger. ( means hunter ). We had a Gunny, but I can see why not to be using that name, lol. Had a Yorick, that one fit him well.
