2000Z-71I haven't been aware of the hum. That said one of the spookiest moments I ever experienced was absolute dead silence. North of the Arctic Circle in March; no wind, no animals, no vehicles, just complete and total silence.

nukeandpaveYes. Less often now. Age? Tinnitus? Different location?

signewt60+ years ago I used to hear a hum on any given elevated knob when trail riding out in Owyhee desert. Independant of electric towers, which had their own hum. Hear it without the dirt bike as well these days. Similar to low grade refrigerator hum, even when none are around.

… this is a low-pitched hum. I’d say around 30Hz.

tsmccullYou can’t find the source of the hum. It’s from the spinning hard drives on the computer running the simulation we live in and from our POV, they’re extra-dimensional. Now you know!

NOCkidI haven't heard it recently, having developed some tinnitus, but remember occasionally hearing a faint lower pitched tone that I could never track down. It sounded like an auto idling at a distance.
