Keep your spirits up lbj. I'm with the others here who are pulling for you to get through this trial, and be better for it afterwards. (And thanks for posting the picture of the cheerleaders, BTW

CensoredLegacy man, legacy. Get in place. You are in a position to set the stage for generations to come in your family. Sorry if this sounds too morbid. I am hoping that the immuno therapy will hold things in check for you.

lbjKind of down today.
I decided to begin the process of notification in my business life.
I am retiring at the end of July.
I will be here at sigforum like the old days.
That could be bad or good, you decide.
I addressed all 25 of my players today.
Jaws dropped and I had their attention for sure.
Then it was to the staff members.
Next up after that was emailing all the league owners.
Geez, I am glad that is over with.
Next week, I will send out a press release system wide notifying my sponsors and fans that I will retire after this July due to being diagnosed terminal.
It will get around.
Now, some may say not to play the cancer card. However, when you sell or fold a team such as mine, truth is always best.
Fans and sponsors deserve such truth.
They've been with me through thick and thin.
All of my current season contracts and bills will be honored and paid in full.
Plus, I don't want any potential hard feelings spilling over to my wife and daughters after I am gone if I had simply walked away from the team without explanation, even though I had paid all of any money/bills owed.
Anything which will help my family either now in the future is paramount.

I hope the spirit of what the little-blue emoticon represents makes it point. I just don't have the right words to describe how sad this is.

Well, a return to the old days would be fine, lbj. I'm sorry you feel the need to give up your team, but it sounds like the right decision.
Just be happy, is all I can say.

ugeestaSorry to hear that but it is likely better for your health and well being.
Will they at least let you keep the cheerleaders?

A very stressful and risky business.
You can make a little money or lose a lot more depending on the year.
I need less stress and more family and down time.
I am OK with it.
It's been a great time, some of the best of my life. All things come to an end.
I took a lot of time in making my decision, it was not rushed. My life priorities have changed.

No offense meant.

piedrarcYou are in my prayers lbj.
I'm at a loss for words. So many of us have been here for over a decade and the type of forum this is, we feel like family. The sense of belonging to this place you definitely played a part in it.

tannerlbj,
I second (and third!) the continued best wishes! I offer the following poem by William Ernest Henley that has always left me inspired when the chips are down.
Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

Continued prayers.
Nothing you say is hollow or shallow.

May G-d bless and keep you and your loved ones, and that darkness is often His shadow as He is drawing near you and yours.
Make good memories for your family and loved friends.
