Has Everyone Stopped Using Credit Cards??? Credit Card Offer Junkmail Is Off The Charts
WTF?
We have good credit, I get that.
But lately it's like the banks are in a panic over credit card use or something and they keep sending us offers for new credit cards, sometimes 5-6 a day
I swear I have a pile of 100 offers from the past 6 weeks ort so
What gives?

I almost never get any. Might be because I have a fraud alert on my credit, but even before that I wasn’t getting that many that I can remember.

I burned out two shredders from all of the junk mail. So I started saving it all up and taking the stuff to a bulk shredding service. The shredding service has a huge shredder. Very satisfying to watch.

No uptick. It's always been this bad.
Also, if you have good credit, the credit cards you ALREADY have are always sending balance transfer offers.
If I ever have the opportunity, my first act as benevolent dictator will be to ban junk mail.

I got a metric crapton of credit card offers.
Shredded one too many, straw found the camel's back a few years ago.
Went onto all three credit agencies, opted out of marketing. Then froze my credit info altogether in 2017 due to the Equifax breach.
Still get a bunch of junk mail, mind you, but no credit card offers.
Yes, it's a bit of a hassle having to go and individually undo the credit info freeze temporarily when setting up new accounts. But that is once a year, maybe. Whereas the junk credit card offers/shredding annoyance was multiple times per week - good tradeoff.

I feel left out. I don't get any. No junk mail either. Could be that Rotweiler I have tied to the mailbox. He screens my mail.

I got one in today's mail.

If you want to stop getting them, call the "opt-out" number that is found on every one. You do have to give personal info including your #ssn, but the junk mail will taper off and eventually stop.

It doesn't matter. You could file bankruptcy and start getting piles of mail right after it is discharged.

If it comes with a pre-paid return envelope, send their stuff back to them (minus anything that has your name, address, etc., on it).
Help out the USPS!

I think (if memory serves) it was the last four digits, the same you'd give if you want to, for example, respond to one of the offers, access a credit report, etc. Anyway, it worked and nothing bad happened. Resign yourself to a flooded mailbox and keep complaining, then. This message has been edited. Last edited by: egregore,

Their upside is if you pay over time. I payoff each month and collect points. If I were to screw up the interest rate is 25%

I got rid of mine in 2008. Consolidated my CC debt the same year and paid it off in 2011. Dave Ramsey said 83% of people who do this wind up in CC debt again. I have made it a point to stay in the other 17%. Wifey has no CC either.
I have less than Zero interest in acquiring one at this point in my life.

I go one better, I rip the application in half and return it in the postage paid envelope. Amazing, one or two more and they no longer arrive.

I’m all froze up, hardly get any CC offers. Maybe I’m just a risk, not a good customer, & never pay interest?
Freeze up & the offers will cease.

I have a freeze on all three of the major credit reporting companies. I get two or three "pre-approved" offers / week.
I just stuff everything into the business return envelope and drop it in the mailbox.
