There is a show on Food Network where folks battle Bobby Flay in a cooking challenge. I guess he is a good one since he has a TV Show. Well this week a girl I have known since we were kids was on the show and ended up beating him. I have not seen the show before so I am not sure if folks usually beat him or not.
My friend is a chef at a big time fancy place in NYC. It's fun to see the different paths people take in life and where they end up.
She is actually the first girl that I took out on a real date.

Did he stomp his nads? I keep tuning into that show but it's a constant disappointment. No one has laid a finger on Flay.

"Bobby Flay is a tampon".

One of my friends posted that on his FB page. His wife is an impressive homecook. I believe that she auditioned for a show and the prick with a fork was rude to her.

That was one of those that I guess we had just been friends for so long we did a lot of stuf together nothing serious came from the relationship. Just really good friends.
I am guessing God knew she was going to make it big in the NYC a place you would never catch me living.

Prior to this week never heard of the guy. Why all the hate??

Good for your friend.

I don't care for him at all. Perhaps it's just for show but he seems like a real smug, arrogant, mannerless relatively talentless chef despite his restaurants. Emphasis on arrogant and mannerless.

That particular show is very casual, and has been going on for years. He's been beaten, in that context, many times. It's more like challenging your friend to a drinking contest than some stiff upper lipped competition. But, it's still cool. She must be a pretty good cook.

I thought the same thing. I work with a food stylist who has worked with him. She worked a holiday series with him last year. The series was 3 weeks. She was warned not to talk to him.

After the first day he was a pussycat. He was warm and cordial and turned out to be a nice guy.

I changed my opinion of him.

Now you have to try your friends food! Flay might be a douche but he is a good cook and it'd be badass to beat him.

Situation awareness is defined as a continuous extraction of environmental information, integration of this information with previous knowledge to form a coherent mental picture in directing further perception and anticipating future events. Simply put, situational awareness mean knowing what is going on around you.

A pillowcase of door knobs, please.

Or a nail-studded bat.

Flay and Ramsey are utter assholes.

My experience in working in restraunts is limited to being a busboy to help pay for college. That was decades ago. My impression is that food-service employees are fueled by ethanol and THC. Being successful as an owner may necessitate being a hardass.

Nothing much has changed between then and now, in that regard. Many of the cooks, chefs, and restaurateurs I know smoke and/or drink every shift, at least every dinner shift. You'd think they were a band on tour or something, every night a performance, and often with as many tattoos as musicians. Assholes/tyrants and attitudes are plentiful, too.
