I grew up on the river. Water skied, trapped muskrats, fished, and ice skated in the winter time.
We also camped out on an island. Jungle hammocks were in at the time and no tents for us. My brother managed to set the one tent we had on fire with a candle. Frown

In the 80's we would take four days off per month and decompress in one of a dozen remote parks in California.

No errands to run no chores , no honey do's, pretty much zero interaction with others.

It was magical, in either the mountains or the deserts.

Awesome recollections.
Damn me for not keeping a journal
