Thanks much.

In actuality-- somebody please chime in if your experience was different-- it'd be unusual if the sheriff's office actually checked those references.

(Mine positively did not. They're not required to, and state law arguably prohibits them from publicly disclosing details from LTCF applications; several offices were sued over it and stopped doing it years ago.)

I applied online on Friday before a holiday weekend. Notified by text on Tuesday morning to come in to be photographed and pick up my license at either of two locations during business hours.

I’ve had my LTCF for 27 years and they never once contacted my references.

I think I recall reading somewhere that there is some effort building to remove the references requirement from the application altogether.

I have had my LTCF for ~30 years, and to my knowledge not one of my references was ever contacted (I asked them to let me know if they were).

I just took another look at the LTCF application and the ‘reference’ section is now “Optional”.

This was NOT previously the case, as I have saved an older version of the form and references were required.

Agree. I’ve looked at the approximate region of Lebanon to Littleton areas. Having lived in MA and RI, I think New England’s towns are like no other. NH seems like the only reasonable New England state these days. But probably too cold, too long winters for Mrs. Scot.

Cabin on a lake in NH, Condo on the beach in FL...

Great Gun locations, lots of options for things to do, and your grand kids will love flying to Florida in the Winter, when it's the perfect time to be here...

Now Living in York County, near Gettysburg. 3.5 - 4 hours to get to NYC. I have family in urban NJ/NYC area and the drive is ok. Home is 5 miles from the MD line. Winters here have moderated. Usually some snow. Some years barely any.
Half the membership of our local gun club are from Maryland.
Gun friendly state as noted by others. Been here since ‘85, big improvement over NJ.

North east corner of PA will get you to the city in an hour. Figure Harrisburg is about the center of the state - everything east and south (generalizing here) is suburban. North east, north, north west and west are less populated.

PA is a big state. It takes me 4 hours to drive from Gettysburg to the north east corner. East to west takes longer. You should be able to find a nice place, with some acreage and room to shoot and even hunt if you’re so inclined.

Sullivan County Pennsylvania. More deer than people. Loyalsock creek, native trout. The Endless mountains. Forksville, population 110 in 2020. LaPorte is the county seat. Rural, yes, there is a State Park there named Worlds End Stae Park.

Was planning on retiring there but we went full time RVing.
