Found this locally, only $200, a little one the smaller side, but not small enough at 300'ish lbs. to throw out my back trying to lift it. Been laying around not being able to move the past 2 days.

I should feel a little better RIGHT about the time I gotta go back on shift. Sooner or later I'm gonna have to get those vertebrate looked at, always the same spot.

Nice looking safe but sorry to hear about your back. The trick is to use someone else's back and knees to lift. My son helps a great deal in that department. He allows the old man to have a break now and again.

Lucky Craigslist find from a really nice guy east of Baltimore. Decent enough size but I could use another one.

A hand truck, a ratchet strap or two, a section of 4x4 post, and a furniture dolly are worth their cost in moving heavy objects and appliances, based on my experience. I was recently able to move a 700-lb safe using these, and a floor jack, to set the safe up.

Did you take the door off?

I moved mine once without taking the door off (forgot it just hangs on the pins by gravity).

Now I have a post it note inside saying “Door come off dummy!”

The topic of your post brings up a question I've wondered about often . Am I the only one that doesn't feel a need to lock up my ammo ? I'm not criticizing your way of doing things at all . Just curious .

It was on a heavy duty hand truck with ratchet straps.

The simple act of trying to tilt it back did it. My lower back has gotten progressively worse in the past 2-3 years. I can’t perform high impact work outs, can only run on the treadmill now. I’m not lame but it don’t take much to get me there. Like tilting a 300# safe back apparently.

With a bunch of little kids I just wanted it. I won’t say the safe was specifically for ammo, if my main was overflowing it would hold more firearms. Currently it’s holding boxed ammo and extra cash. As you can see I got boxes on top, a dozen ammo cans behind the door, and I don’t feel it’s unsafe.

Reasonably priced safe is just something I’m gonna snag. If it was 500$ I wouldn’t have felt the need to get it. It’ll serve a purpose no matter what.
