BMW S1000XR.
Armored jacket. Kevlar jeans. Boots. Reflective vest. Full face helmet.
And I am thinking of getting an airbag vest!
My biggest fear in the Yoop: Deer.
2 bikers killed in the last week or so here by deer strikes.

I have a BMW S1000R and it sort of scares me. I always wear full gear and I've seen it all. But I was never so happy to be in full gear as when I rode through a swarm of bees at about 65mph on Scottsdale Rd. on my R1200GS. That felt like someone threw a shovelfull of gravel at me. But I didn't get stung once.

I've ridden in full gear, I've ridden in my bikini, also a mini skirt & stiletto heels. Yes, anything can happen at any time, but we all decide what risks we are willing to take. Was I wearing the mini skirt & stilettos on a "hard core" ride? No. I was going less than 2 miles to my job at a biker bar where I made damn good tips partly cos I dressed hot & drove a bike. Speed limit was 30. I decided the risk was worth it.
I try not to judge, there may be a reason people do things. Maybe you see the person driving in rush hour with no helmet on thinking they are an idiot when in reality, they did intend to, but someone stole their helmet when they were at work. Things happen. To each their own. Freedom is the key.

Rode for 35 years. On the street I wore full gear. It saved my life.

Hit a deer at about 70mph. Luckily the bike took the impact, I just went for a "ride".

Helmet did it's job (my skull would have shattered), steel toed boots were worn through the metal, gloves pretty much remained intact, and my jacket actually didn't have much damage other than scuff marks from sliding down the pavement. Was unconscious for probably 10-15 minutes.

I'd love to ride again. But I gave up riding before the current cellphone craze, and my biggest concern is people not paying attention. Just a few years ago I got rear ended in my car. Guy behind me saw the light turn green, but he was glued to his phone, and didn't notice the cars in front of me hadn't started moving yet.

Stay safe out there on your bikes, nobody pays attention anymore...

I apologize now...
