I quit Sirius/xm for keeps several years ago when they kept trying to bill us for service to a car we had sold, despite repeated requests to cancel.
Meanwhile, around the SiriusXM watercooler:

Guy 2: "That's nothing! I got one to pay $8."

BeancookerSirius can fuck themselves with a sharp stick. It’s ridiculous that you have to go back and forth to get fair pricing.
I’ll stick to the 22gb of music I have on my phone. As far as the new music and what is great…

signewtI got signed up automatically in 2004 when I bought a new pick up. I paid by check for one 6 month renewal. They changed the agreement. I canceled after the '2nd 6 months'. They still try multiple times a year to reinstate that account. Pure scrap paper, doesn't even make good kindling starter.

rat2306Just renewed my subscription, after changing plans. Saved almost $100 by cutting off an option never used (big royalties to NFL, talk shows, news, etc.). $11 a month, and I can still stream tons of channels on-line. My next new vehicle I may not get Sirius; but the older ones don't have the right gizmos for new services (14-year-old Ford Fusion for example).

It is wild how willy nilly their pricing is.
I pay $7.99 a month for 1 vehicle, the app, and all the sports, and talk channels.
Only thing I don’t have is the traffic stuff.

rat2306^^It's crazy, the prices are all over the place. I'm thinking with my next new car to go Pandora and HD radio. SiriusXM I believe owns Pandora, but the fees are a bit less. Been using Sirius since I plugged a radio adapter into the cassette deck that was in my '01 Forester at the time.

armedprofI bought a new Ram 1500 in February. It came with 6 months. They offered me a 12 month extension for $60 that actually ended up costing $78 with taxes and fees... I will keep it through next August and I actually like it more than I thought. BUT I have a family account with Spotify. Spotify is great but XM automatically in my ride is pretty convenient.

BurtonRWIt's a hell of a lot easier now that they'll let you get to the retention specialists via chat. Used to be you had to call to talk to them. Major improvement.
I'm still hovering around the $7/mo. mark - I'm about to have to do it again in a couple of months, but like I said, much easier to get whatever the "new subscriber" deal is via chat these days than it used to be.
Anyway, I subscribe for XM Patriot (125). Only place I can listen to Breitbart News, David Webb, and Andrew Wilkow (especially Wilkow) from 6-noon every day.
When I absolutely need a break, it's nice to have 80s on 8 available, but my listening is pretty much 95% XM Patriot and 5% 80s on 8.

kx90Years ago a bunch of us were on a plan together and it made it worth it when we split the cost. Then the account holder was done with it I got my own plan and then after about a year or so I got tired of it and shut it down.
We got 3 months free with the new Subaru, that was up at the beginning of May. It made me want it again for our road trips. They keep sending emails for $5 per month for the "platinum" plan for 12 months. I'm tempted but I don't want to have to 'play the game' in a year. I shouldn't have to.
Most places we go we get good 5G service so we can still use a streaming music service (Amazon as of right now). When we go off grid we just switch to what we have downloaded.

Black92LX**********REVIVING AN OLD THREAD***************
Got done doing the renewal dance. However this was the easiest yet, no need to threaten to cancel and get transferred to someone else.
Got my email my annual is up and my $7.99 after taxes was going up to $26.75 after taxes.
Called the number someone answered quickly it was evident there were a ton of other call takers doing the same in the background.
They knew my account info from the phone number. Asked how they could help, I said I got may annual renewal notice and I said I have no desire to pay $26 a month. She said let me check.
Said their current promotion would be $9.47 a month after taxes.
I have paid $7.99 a month for years. Looks like most of the price increase is taxes.
I listen to Sirius XM quite a bit and specifically one show that is not available anywhere else. I enjoy it very much so the cost is acceptable to me.

6guns^^^ That's about the result that I got during my last threat call to them. And now the change is permanent, unless I cancel. Pleased to not have to go through that crap again.

SpinZoneMy wife just played the game 2 weeks ago for both our vehicles. She kept us at the $5.99 we were at for the past year by canceling both accounts and "getting talked into renewing for another year".

PghPII have had Sirius in the car since I bought my 2016 4Runner. Best I had gotten them to was about $7/month with tax. My last renewal was supposed to end without an auto renewal to the $26/month rate, but they auto renewed it anyway. I saw the charge hit my bank and bitched up a storm. Cancelled the subscription as they were not offering me anything better at all. I went about a week before I got an email with the same offer as I had before, but had seen posts about a 36 month plan at $3/month. So I called and when they tried to sign me up for the same plan I had I told them I was done unless I could have the $3/month plan with the 36 month commitment. They checked and amazingly (lol) my radio still qualified for that plan and so that is what I got this time.
I have 300k on the 4Runner, so yes, I am in the car a lot and to me it's worth it for the service at that price. I still get all the streaming services through their app so with my unlimited data plan on the phone I bluetooth to my car radio if there is a channel I want to listen to if it is not on the in-car channels. $105 total paid up front for the 36 months and it does not auto renew.

Creeping_DeathFor those near renewal time - I cancelled cancelled two accounts a few months ago. I said no to $9.99, and no to $5.99. When you actually cancel you will see mail notices about how much they miss you and offer $2.99/mo for a year if you reactivated.

old rugged crossI have been doing for a few years. I want Mlb so have to pay more for an upgraded package. Mlb does not come with a basic subscription. $13 a month. Are you getting full mlb for less?

I get all of the NHL games on the app but not an in-car channel. So if I am driving and want to listen to a game that is not on the NHL channel, I bluetooth my phone to the car and get whatever game I want to listen to through the app and then in the car. Not sure if MLB works the same but I do see MLB games in the app but I never listen to baseball. No extra cost to the $3/month that I have paid.

GeorgeairI would rather listen to nothing other than the hum of my tires from MS to CA, accompanied by the soft inaudible tone of tiny flecks of rubber wearing away, than give these epic assholes another dollar of my money.

MillironI did this yearly until last year when they gave up the game and just gave it to me permanently at $5/month.
