Anyone here not like tacos?
Put me in the "loves tacos" category.

Favorites are al pastór and regular ol' carne asada tacos (light on the cilantro).

Oh yes..

I especially like Fish Tacos, as well as shrimp or lobster tacos.

I like the pink ones best.

Cabeza is my current favorite at the truck that parks outside a local bar. Carnitas when properly moist is hard to beat. Suadero, especially with some crispy bits. Pastor with some pineapple even though I shouldn't pineapple. Asada is a good fall back. Shrimp fresh from the grill is delish. Baja style fish with the white sauce brings back memories of spring break. Does a brat in a tortilla count? I'm all about tacos.

Depends - somewhere between like and love

tacos al carbón (grilled meat, corn tortilla, onions, lime juice, and cilantro) is a favorite

breakfast tacos - preferably flour tortilla with eggs, sausage, cheese, and salsa

I do like some non-traditional tacos like Torchy's serves

Budget fast food tacos (Taco Bell, Taco Cabana, etc.) are merely OK.

Surprisingly good tacos can be had at your local gas station. Laredo Taco Co. operates in Sunoco and 7-11 gas stations and makes a damn good taco or quesadilla. They make the tortilla fresh right there in front of you too which is cool as well as grill the meats. I never thought I would be advocating for trying a gas station taco, but give them a shot if you get a chance. They are really cheap too which is a nice bonus. Far superior to Taco Bell which I barely consider even edible.

Yep, tacos are good. Like them all except tongue. I hate the texture of tongue!

I love Mexican food, and other south of the border cuisine.

I dated a Guatemala girl for a while, she was a good cook too!

There is a Peruvian restaurant near by, that specializes in Peruvian roasted chicken with some Ají Amarillo, aji verse and Aji Panca sauce, mmmmm mmm mmm.

Another favorite is Tallarines Verdes con Bistec (green spaghetti with steak).....(I had to look it up, didn't remember).

Back to Tacos. There are two little places in town, that are excellent. One ran by an older lady and her husband. He does most of the cooking. My favorite things there are the steak or shrimp burrito and the shrimp soft toco.

The other place is ran by a young girl, her aunt and they make the best pork tamales! They also make awesome burritos and tacos.

Me. I don't like ground beef, so that eliminates a lot of things from the menu. I also hate anything tomato based that is not pizza sauce (ie, no chunks of tomato) so salsa is out too.

Very odd, that somebody doesn't like tacos, every culture around the world has a dish/food where meat is wrapped and eaten via a starch vehicle. To not like a taco, somethin' ain't right with that individual.

There was a series on Netflix called Taco Chronicles, it was made for Latin America so, turn-on the subtitles. Each episode features a specific kind of meat...I got real hungry after the barbacoa episode Eek

how businessman Glen Bell mass-marketed it to Anglo palates via the crunchy Taco Bell shell.

While technically correct that Glen Bell mass-marketed the crispy-shell taco, he effectively stole the idea from Mitla Cafe in his hometown of San Bernardino, CA.

Bell wanted his slice of the fast-food pie explosion that was happening in the US. McDonald Brothers were in the same town and started to experience success with Ray Kroc. Not too far away, In'N'Out was also have success and other parts of the country saw Burger King, and Kentucky Fried Chicken locations popping up all around. Bell after his USMC service, opened a hot-dog stand across the street from Mitla Cafe; seeing the lines he closed up and started working at Mitla. The crispy shell taco was its signature item; they weren't the inventors of the crispy shell taco, as it was just a quick and unique method for food service to heat up and serve a tortilla.

Bell learned all he could and quit to open his own taco stand, coping Mitla's signature crispy taco; eventually he opened several locations. Sold the biz to his partner and started a new business, Taco Bell. Mitla Cafe still stands in its original location serving its famous crispy tacos. I've had them, they're fantastic and while I'll have a hankering for a taco supreme every once in awhile, Mitla's crispy tacos are the standard for hard shell tacos.

To me, there are so many varieties of tacos that it's hard to think there isn't a variety that a person likes.

I mean there are some meats / makes that I don't like, but then others that I could eat for days. Mostly simple carne' asada with onions / cilantro / lime... mmmmmmmmmm

Agree – for me it’s Tuesday and Tsaturday. Smile

Carmen’s Mexican Food, my favorite San Diego taco shop, is open only for take-out nowadays because of the virus. But such good take-out! My usual order is crispy rolled chicken tacos with guacamole. By default they come with rice+beans, but I usually get them with beans+beans.

Tomorrow – another day that begins with a “T”! Can hardly wait!

Back in 1985 I had a lady living with me who was an assistant manager at the local Taco Mayo. Every night she worked I was up there getting some dinner. She never charged me and I would just just tell her keep them coming. It was a great time for a taco lover like me. Of course now she is long gone and I think Taco Mayo is about kaput but shit like Taco Bell is going fine. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Well looks like I’m making homemade carne guisada tomorrow now. Fresh tortillas from H-E-B along with homemade rice and beans and we’ve got a proper taco dinner.

The words taco and portobello should never be used in the same sentence, even though I just did.
Sorry.
