This.

Our overseas missions, while chiefly political also serve as the conduit of US culture and policy abroad. Our embassies have parties inviting those countries political, business and other leading citizens in celebrating the 4th of July, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving; I have no issues if a US mission wants to have a gay pride party, particularly in countries that actively hunt down and persecute homosexuals. However, certain standards need to apply and the flag pole out front, is for and only the national ensign.

It’s an AMERICAN Embassy, not a gay embassy.

That Flag stands for something. I’ll bet that the gay person in Iran that’s being persecuted for his sexuality, same with the lil fella that’s being fucked with because of his religion know...

Those people in oppressed conditions know damn sure what those Stars and Stripes stand for.

Putting the rainbow pride flag, or any other flag below the American flag when it’s hanging in front of our Embassy, tarnishes it.

This falls within the 'goes without saying' category.

I guess basic human rights is not enough huh Arc?
We have to single out every single fringe group now. That is sound policy, ok.

We better get one hell of a lot bigger flag pole for crissakes.

This wins the dumbest thing I have heard in a good long while award.

There is only one flag that should ever fly over a US Embassy. Period. No exceptions.

The policy sounds reasonable to me.

Our embassies overseas promoting gay rights is a good thing. Here, it's about discrimination. In many other countries, it means standing up for the right of someone not to be imprisoned or killed for their sexual orientation.

Gay people deserve the same rights as everyone else, no more, no less. Places like Iran still exist, so this is important.

I 100% agree.

But, are Israel, Germany, Brazil and Latvia really dangerous countries for homosexuals? I want to see it raised at the embassy in Saudi Arabia.

I agree 100%. I still don't want the rainbow flag flying over our embassies, it does not belong there and is not a symbol of our nation. Put up a poster or something if you want, but do not fly that flag below ours.

I agree. This is not an anti-gay decision. Is isn’t appropriate for such facilities to fly politically motivated flags. Fly your country’s flag over your embassy and call it a day.

I’m happy my 9y/o daughter enjoyed a day scootering in the Boston pride parade today.

Current and most all Government very much aside, I’m also thankful we have the freedom to be ourselves, Foreign or domestic.

I see the disdain for these freedoms to be one selves and live as they wish, as ignorance, and that is a fatal human flaw we can all suffer from at one point or another.

Thats just my view from my perch under the shade tree.

The US flag alone represents these freedoms. No other flags are needed.

Good. That shit has no place on our embassy flag poles. None. Just because a country accepts gay people does not mean we need to fly that stupid flag as if it is any more special than any other UNOFFICIAL flag. Fuck the left and their outrage.

Personally I don't care what banners you want to fly as long as the official flag pole only ever flies the official flag.

I read this story and just say, "Good." That doesn't mean I give any shits about what people do in their own bedroom or if they want to promote pride month in the heart of the Arabian world.

Don’t care what you do in the bedroom.
Fly the flag in your own yard or wear it as James Comey does.
The rainbow flag does not belong on U.S. Embassy flag poles.

I don't have a beef with reminding people that our flag says that you can be whoever you want to be. Just fly the pride flag on another flagpole (a shorter one) next to the official flagpole.
